This is Dobbs third NFL season. He wasn’t around in 2019 or in 2021. Entering this season he only had 17 career passing attempts for 45 yards. His one and only career start was against the Cowboys, and he had only been with the Titans for 8 days. Brock Purdy is a rookie and was the last player taken in the 2022 draft and has done well. If the Cowboys aren’t ready to play Howell may have some success. Rookie QBs are a lot more prepared to play these days and Howell has had all season to learn.

Put away the anointing oil for Purdy. He is just getting to the point where there is enough tape out there to effectively gameplan him (4 games is generally the benchmark for having enough tape)

If we lose to Howell, we can only blame ourselves. It might happen— but I really doubt it.

Broadus stated that the Cowboys were interested in drafting Howell but TE took priority. He spoke highly of Howell, said he had a good touch with the deep ball, and was evasive...for what its worth.

The Jags went 3 and out in overtime. How did Turpin get any punt returns if the defense can't stop anyone?

The Jags shot themselves in the foot with a penalty in OT, which helped kill their drive. The Cowboys have been helped several times the past several games with teams committing costly penalties that put them in long 3rd down situations. Our defense isn’t stopping opponents like they were the first half of the season and it’s been obvious. Just look at the points/TDs we’re giving up now compared to earlier in the season. In the last six games Turpin has returned six punts. He had nine punt returns the first six games of the season. He had at least one punt return in the first 10 games this season. In the last six games he had three games where he didn’t have any punt returns. It’s clear he’s not getting as many punt return opportunities as he was earlier in the season.

He was great in college and solid in preseason.

If we have a makeshift defense on Sunday, expect him to show out

I'd honestly rest Micah on Sunday. If we can't dominate defensively without him, that says alot

TE never takes priority over QB.

Where did I anoint Purdy? I said he’s done well, that’s far from annoying him. Lol I’m already on record saying I think his inexperience will cost San Francisco in the playoffs. I was listening to Bryan Broaddus and not that I take everything he says as the gospel but he has seen Howell play. He said he believes Howell gives Washington the best chance to win. He said had it not been for his senior year he might have been a first round draft pick rather than a fifth round pick. He also said that Howell is super mobile and we know the struggles the Cowboys have had against mobile QBs. I’m certainly not saying he’s going to be any good, but let’s see what happens on Sunday. The Cowboys do have a history of playing down to struggling teams especially when they’re having QB issues.

As a UNC guy, I'm excited for Howell, but for his sake I almost wanted them to just wait till next year.
Sorry Sam, I'm not pulling for you this week...lol

Howell was a very good QB at NC

He is not an easy out or a bum. Would not be surprised to see him light this struggling defense up and get a W

They will scoreboard watch.

Once Eagles go up 14 and the Giants put in the 3rd string QB the starters will come out

i'd still sit him lol. it's less than likely we'd get a bye even if we won the division. There's no real upside to playing him...unless he really feels rested which he hasn't looked like for quite some time

We definitely play down to teams— no argument there. And yep, mobile QBs give us fits.

In the end, if we let a rookie QB look like an all pro, we have no one to blame but ourselves.

With us needing the W to keep the pressure on Philly, and Wash being a dumpster fire— I could care less who they play at QB.

If we lose, and Philly loses— it’s on our coaches and “leaders” for taking their foot off the gas. It’s a rivalry game and will basically be Washington’s super bowl… I hope we come ready to rumble and get right for the playoffs

Why do I have a feeling this get breaks 300 yards?

It's 5 games now. Garoppolo got hurt on their opening drive against Miami.

As far as losing to Washington goes, it really doesn't matter. We can't do worse than the 5th seed. If the Giants don't go all out, Dallas has a zero chance at winning the division.

Smart move, play the rookie their season is done anyway. Cowboys should look for a heavy dose of runs from Robinson Jr. n Gibson. The young secondary players will have to wait till the Playoffs to get properly tested by Brady. Howell better be a warm up.
