Commanders trade Taylor Jacobs for Mike Rumph

This is a solid move for the Skins.

Jacobs would have probably been cut. At least now, they get another body in the CB/S mix for a player that wouldn't make the roster (Jacobs).

They either get something out of Rumph, making the trade good for them...or they get nothing out of Rumph, and they lose nothing...

Its a "no lose" situation for the Skins.

actually that's a good trade for the skins. they are deep at WR and jacobs had sucked for years now. they are taking a first round player that has played 5 games over the past 2 years. he has some injury issues. However they know jacobs is 5th on their team at WR and they badly need CB help. its a gamble that may payoff as it did with springs, because Kenny Wright sucks.

a perenial underachiever who is hurt and probably would have gotten cut at the end of TC, for much needed help at the CB position.

no matter how bad rumph is, you might as well take a shot with him at the slight chance that he might be able to come in and contribute.

I cant complain.

I guess Gibbs is collecting now Hurricanes at the advice of his resident for UofM products Portis and Taylor.

I wonder if Portis will tell Rumph he has no business playing in the next preseason game.

Rich........

This is actually way too funny. I remember some epic battles on ES about who was the better prospect Taylor Jacobs or Antonio Bryant.

Now the 49ers have both of them! Way to go 49ers.

That was long ago. They threw Jacobs under the bus with Steve Spurrier a few years ago.

This is a turd swap. A first round bust after 5 years for a 2nd round bust after 4 years.

I predict that neither of these guys will have an impact on a single game this year.

they were BOTH 2nd round picks

Even if nothing comes of it, this trade makes a lot of sense for both sides.

It's not really very different from a personnel standpoint than the impending Shanle/Coleman trades we should see shortly. If there is any difference, it is simply that the bottom of the Cowboys roster is a little more talented than the bottom of the Skins/49ers rosters, though that may even be a stretch.

It was good they got something for him. Jacobs would have been cut if not.

I agree this is nothing earth shattering but it gives both players a new start with a different team. Maybe both will prove what they have shown already, which is they aren't good football players. But maybe Gregg Williams saw something in Rumph and maybe Norv Turner saw something in Taylor Jacobs. Neither player had any future with their old team. It doesn't hurt do this trade and hope you unearth a gem.

Most player for player trades are like this anymore. Rubbish for rubbish. Washouts for washouts.

The 49ers have done it recently with Woods for Sammy Davis. They got the better end of that one. I have my suspicions they didn't necessarily get it again.

well, with springs being hurt for what seems like awhile now, rumph might have an increased role with us now. Im guessing that he will jump into the 4th cb position, and maybe even 3rd

We Cowboys fans hope so.

This guy was behind B.J. Tucker on the Niners depth chart, for crying out loud.
