Yes, he has three superbowls. But two of them should have an astrisk next to them. After Gibbs II (second time around) it is obvious that a mistake was made by the HOF commity in letting Gibbs in. He isnt a good coach...period. Look at what Parcells did to the Cowboys. Look at what Parcells did for the Patriots. He built those teams for championships. He won 2 un-astrisk-worthy superbowls himself. He's a HOF coach...Gibbs isn't.

Thoughts?

Happy Commanders Week! :D

He should have never come back.

He was a good coach in the 1980s, no doubt.

But we all get old and lose that edge.

Landry did.

Shula did.

Parcells did.

We can't all be cbz40.

He's already in the Hall of Fame, so yes, he is a Hall of Fame Coach.

Yes, he is a HOF coach but I agree, he should have stuck with NASCAR, full time.

As a true fan of the sport I can't agree with this post. First of all, why should Gibbs be given an asterisk? During his first stint in the National Football League, he coached the Commanders for 12 seasons and led them to eight playoff appearances, four NFC Championship titles, and three Super Bowl titles. Also Monk is deservant of being in the HOF contrary to your opinion....Now if you'd said something like Gibbs should've remained retired because the game has passed him by, then I may have agreed with you.

Now excuse me so that I can wash my mouth out with battery acid for defending Joe Gibbs........

The big difference I see is that Gibbs I had a real GM in place.

Parcells if nothing else still bought some decent groceries for us, which Wade is making some fine home cooking from.

The personnel decisions in Washington the past few years have been beyond atrocious, and Gibbs is a big part of the blame for that. And that's to say nothing of the complete wuss and terrible game manager he has been on the sideline.

Definitely a HOFer.

But for his work during his first tour of NFL duty.

This current go-around with the Skins has been a disaster.
Any other coach without the name Gibbs and without his past accomplishments would not be working in this league.

I've told you guys/gals time after time after time! The only reason St. Gibbs came out of football retirement is because he saw how all those old broken down players were coming to the RedStinks for BIG MONEY...so, like a wise man, a man that needed some new race cars, he said to himself, "Hey, if those old players can mount Lil Snyder and have their way with him, why not me?"

So, he went to El Midget and got himself a job standing on the sideline with sunglasses and headphones, and spitting on the ground every few seconds or so, just so the brainwashed fans in the stands can feel all goody, goody about a football team that plain out sucks!

But, yeah, St Gibbs is in the HOF and has a bust with the shoulders made of bronze and the head made of plastic, painted with bronze paint.

Based on what he has accomplished, or rather failed to accomplish, in his latest stint with the Commanders they should remove his bust from the HoF.

Just kidding. ;)

If you're looking to flush out some trolls, this bait is kind of lame.

Quality bait, no matter how dated, are things like Udall forcing segregation on the avowed racist Marshall or even Kopay and Smith falling in love in the Washington locker room shower.......

Although I agree that two of thsoe superbowls need and * next to them, I don't agree that Gibbs isn't a HOF coach.

No one stays good forever. If Jim Brown were to go play for the Browns again, but stunk it up would that mean he really should of never been in the Hall of Fame?

Exactly what I was thinking. There is no need for a debate here.
