This is a shame cause I was a fan of Kelly and I really hoped that he'd have a good career and prove some people wrong. Looks like those knee reports might turn out to be true after all.

according to Jason La Canfora's Commanders Blog...

"Rookie wide receiver Malcolm Kelly underwent arthroscopic knee surgery Monday to remove loose particles in his left knee. Kelly, who team sources expect to miss about two weeks, had the surgery at the Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze, Fla."

Could of been worse. Just hope this isnt something that happens every off season.

they wasted enough draft picks on WR's so whats one rookie?

They took 2 WR. Frankly, both were good value picks.

value picks in that they were the only decent receivers in this years draft but in any other draft they most likely would have been late 2nd to 3rd rounders which makes it a bad pick. i personally thought their picks were horrible.

After trading up to take Rocky McIntosh and then taking Kelly in the 2nd after just drafting 2 pass catchers while still having giant holes on the D-line, I have come to the conclusion that having degenerative POS knees actually raises you on the Commanders draft board instead of drops you.

If I was a college senior, I'd totally tell the Commanders in my interview that I might need total knee replacement in the next year. I'd be their first round pick for sure.

Commanders Scout: What do you think you can bring to the Commanders?

Player: Did I mention I have inoperable cancer?

Commanders Scout: SOLD!

Ahh, I could be mistaken but I believe this cat has had plenty of knee surgeries and knee problems during his college career too. Its been happening for him for awhile now.

He has had 2 prior knee surgeries. Once in Junior/High School and the other his Soph. Year at Oklahoma. I dont know if he has had surgery on the same knee though.

Does seem minor. I know I'm not saying anything earth shattering, but it has to be somewhat disappointing for the rookie receivers to be hurt though. Seems like the sort of position where camp time is valuable for the rooks.

correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the knee concerns before the draft were of the degenerative variety? looks like that that may be the case

Bingo. Both Thomas and Kelly will most likely contribute 0 this season due to the missed camp time

They may show flashes in November and December, but that is the maximum I am expecting
