That old Raiders slogan was Commitment to Excellence. Jerry's adopted motto is commitment to mediocrity which Prescott embodies to the fullest.

And the cash registers just keep on ringin' with no help in sight.

perhaps some new money but in the backend, allowing us to take a large hit but not massive hit.

not sure what the rules are for paying bonuses on a restructure. I know there was a Deion rule to limit bonus paid on a new contract so teams wouldn't recruit players with upfront money. but not sure about restructures.
You mentioned restructuring and then mentioned adding years. You dont add years in a restructure, it's just an accounting method of moving CAP Space by converting Base Salary into Bonus which can be spread evenly into the 2 existing years ad also the 2 Void years which in effect lower his $49m CAP. I think they can reduce the whole $31m of the base salary (except for the Vet minimum wage), but that's not realistic.

This idea of an extension is fanciful especially as Dak/France would have to agree to it and they would probably want a BIG increase for 2025 onwards to reflect the new tv money and CAO increases.

Jerry is starting to believe his own propaganda.
Scary times in big D!!!
It took 80 years for a lifelong narcissist to 'start' believing his own propaganda?

Jerry Jones has fooled some folks completely for decades.

The man believed such things as 500 coaches could win with Jimmy Johnson's team. And he was 51 at the time for that single example.

Guess some thought he was either intentionally exaggerating or joking at the time, lol.

Barry Switzer even told Jerry and Jimmy how dumb this was and they needed to fix it..lol.. Imagine Barry being the voice of reason.

At least Switzer attempted to inject logic into the disagreement. Unfortunately, Johnson was given the perfect excuse to move on. And Jones? He could not fight his own nature. Still can't.

ok, his cap hit, cash owed him in the next two years are 31m and 29M, plus the bonus spread over the years owed him (13.2M each) plus the restructure he did before (4.9M each), which makes his cap hit 49M and 51 M. no matter what we get the 18.1M cap hit. that's the initial bonus and restructure.....

if they make those salaries owed to upfront bonus and not extend, then the bonus spreads over the same two years and ends up being about the same amounts.
so giving him bonus and extending, (without adding gauranteed money) would spread the cap hit over the extended period as well and reduce the cap hit for next years. so I assume they would extend another 2 years. some ridiculous non-gauranteed and giving him substantial bonus now that would spread over 4 years and reduce cap hit over the next two years by at least 10-15M a year if not more.

but it would allow the cowboys to move on in the last two years if they want to, specially that salaries wouldn't be gauranteed (probably end up some ridiculous numbers to force cowboys hands (pay up or let me go).

at least that's what I am thinking. but I am not Jerry. if its Jerry, he will probably extend, give him bonus and more gauranteed money as he tends to do with under performing players. because "we like our players".

It's such balony!
After 8 seasons he would be the best QB in the NFL, if he was constantly improving.
Instead last season was a major regression for him with all the interceptions.
This team is going nowhere fast as long as Jerry is at the helm.
He says things are as he wants them to be, instead of how things really are.
This is such a bad trait to have as a GM.
yep jones boys live in their billionaire fantasy world, so it is hard for them to see reality.

Or....

There could actually be legitimate competition at the position.

Draft another quarterback!

It's the only way to add a legitimate potential starter without having to dish out another 30+ mil.

That way, if Dak's agent tries to play hardball, then Jerry has a better response than stall tactics. Because,of course, this is followed by an even larger demand by Dak's agent.
This front office doesn't have the guts to play hardball. Niners drafted 2 QBs after Jimmy G didn't carry his own weight.
