The stats are the better comparison.. I personally don't put much merit in Dez's pre draft numbers for a few reasons.. One is that he wasn't in playing shape for his pro day he was much bigger than usual and was coming off of an ankle injury and 2 because none of the numbers are official.

Dez probably plays in the 215-220 range so using physical numbers from when he was 10 pounds heavier than his playing weight is pointless in my opinion.

definitely some nice stats

i still remember watching the combine when Megatron decided to go ahead and run the 40 and i think he had to borrow a pair of cleats or something and still ran the 4.35

wow! those numbers are extremely encouraging. Especially for my fantasy team this year. ; )

Dez will be my first WR picked as the rest of these guys will be going after Andre Johnson, Roddy White, and Julio Jones.

Meh.

Not really sure of that. Comparing a guy who's played with a very good and seasoned QB to a guy who played with Daunte Culpepper, Dan Orlovski, John Kitna and rookie Matt Stafford.

Up until the 2nd half of last season I would say that Dez left a little to be desired as an offensive skill player. In terms of special teams he was everything he was advertised to be with what looks like reckless ball security and a little bit of a propensity to dance around too much. I can handle the dancing but not the ball security aspect.

For the 2nd half of last year though he was outstanding. Literally could not be more satisfied with his finish and honestly, I think he's made some great strides outside of the game.

The sky is the limit for him. If he keeps his non-football issues in order he's going to dominate the league.

AJ Green is actually outpacing Megatron through his first two years which is kind of crazy. Calvin/Green/Dez/Julio may be the next generation of the Moss vs Owens debate.

For kicks, I wanted to see how Randy Moss did his 1st three years:

Randy Moss
Rec - 226
Yards - 4163
Avg - 18.4
TDs - 43

Also, Mike Wallace had a pretty great 1st three years as well:

Mike Wallace

Yards - 3206
Avg - 18.7
TDs - 24

IMO, he's one more season away from being in the top tier of WRs. The Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson tier.

I think Dez is a great player, but Calvin Johnson is just a generational talent to me playing with backup QBs for the majority of his career. His numbers have exploded the last two years because Stafford has been healthy. Megatron gets special teams 2 gunners on him type defense near the goal line that's respect.

But hasn't Megatron been their #1 option from day 1? When not until last year was Dez the #1 option.

No, in Megatron's rookie season the Lion had an incredible talent at WR named Roy Williams. He was so good, in fact, a year later another NFL team traded a 1st and 3rd round picks to obtain him and signed the guy to a $54m contract.

Dez didn't become a #1 until his 2nd year (just checked the stats. He & Witten basically the same). And in 2007, Johnson's rookie year, he still had 756 yds. To Roy Williams 838 (with only 16 more catches). Not really a big jump from #1 to #2. Pretty even.

Dez's rookie year:
Witten 94 - 1002 yds
Miles 69 - 1041 yds
Dez 45 - 561 yds

"Sources" say differently..

Calvin Johnson didn’t break his fingers

Last season, after Lions receiver Calvin Johnson suffered a concussion, the Lions said he didn’t.

Today, Johnson reportedly confirmed that he played with three broken fingers in 2012. And while the team has not yet addressed the contention, a source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that Johnson actually didn’t break any fingers.

He also apparently didn’t say that he broke his fingers, based on the questions asked and answers provided.

A portion of Johnson’s quotes appears in Chris McCosky’s story in the Detroit News.

Not really sure that matters.

Any lack of opportunity on Dez's part because he wasn't officially labeled the #1 WR is countered by the attention the #1 WR would receive on a team without another very good WR and great TE.

And being 6-5, really doubt a 5-10 cb or 6-0 cb really is gonna change anything in terms of him getting more attention. He is megatron for a reason.
