Comparing Dez to the gold standard

Holy crap. 6'5 239 with a 4.35 40?

That's just disgusting. What a monster, never knew he was so fast.

IMO, he's one more season away from being in the top tier of WRs. The Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson tier.

Last year he was a top 3 WR in the whole league. I would easily say he is a top tier WR.

Me either.. his 40 time shocked me. Was it official?

At the 2007 combine he measured in at 6'5 239 pounds, and measurements, medical tests, and interviews was originally the only reason he was there. Somehow he got talked into running the next day, so he borrowed a pair of shoes from ECU QB James Pinkney and banged out the 4.35. Seems impossible but true.

Where did you get those numbers?

I think the 44" vert and 1.35 10-yard are wrong.

comparing their numbers after 10 years is more important than 3 but it is interesting. if dez can have a season this year like the second half of last year then he will be knocking on the door of the top tier for sure

No doubt.. here is the article. I assume his time was official all though I can't find anything that says it. Adrian Peterson's time was 4.4... so Johnson is 6'5 239 and can run faster than Peterson? Just insanity!

I like this. Good job. Funny he has been good since day one, yet we keep hearing about maybe he is finally living up to his potential. in 2010 he was coming off a year of missing football and entered camp as the #3 and oh yeah the whole team quit on Wade and he still had a respectable rookie season. In 2011 they lose the offseason with the CBA crap and he battles injury and still goes for over 900 and 9TD's, last year was the first year he had a real offseason and stayed fairly healthy and he was a top 3 wr in the league. News flash, he is a beast and he has already arrived. These stats say it all.

I was bored so I decided to compare the two. Lets hope Dez can keep going forward.;)

I knew Dez was a freak, but a 44" vert is insane

I agree. You'd like to see the trend that he set the last 8 games of last season continue, because he definitely turned it up to 11 last year, but the guy's our most exciting offensive player by a wide margin. He's already become a dominant WR that you have to game plan around. Anything else is gravy.

Meh.

Not really sure of that. Comparing a guy who's played with a very good and seasoned QB to a guy who played with Daunte Culpepper, Dan Orlovski, John Kitna and rookie Matt Stafford.

Up until the 2nd half of last season I would say that Dez left a little to be desired as an offensive skill player. In terms of special teams he was everything he was advertised to be with what looks like reckless ball security and a little bit of a propensity to dance around too much. I can handle the dancing but not the ball security aspect.

For the 2nd half of last year though he was outstanding. Literally could not be more satisfied with his finish and honestly, I think he's made some great strides outside of the game.

The sky is the limit for him. If he keeps his non-football issues in order he's going to dominate the league.
Splitting hairs a bit, but Dez played most of his rookie season with Jon Kitna as well, after Tony got hurt.
