Most fans want to find a specific issue to blame but it was a 3 point loss in a game with a missed Field Goal and a failed 4th down play.

If everyone was just 5% better they would have won.

When he has a healthy OL the Rams HC McVay might run the best scheme in football.

KC won the SB based on wow players and solid schemes.

Rams made it to an SB with far less talent because of their scheme.

They integrate their run and pass offense together as well as any scheme I've seen (The 49ers are their rival for best run/pass scheme).

Their running game keeps the defense moving sideways making it impossible for DTs to just anchor as an unmovable object. Back in the day before the prevalence of the zone running scheme big DTs could just "squat" vs the run. Anybody remember DT Gilbert Brown? He made Nate Newton look like a skinny boy.

Poe would be good against power run blocking but the Rams kept him moving sideways. If Poe just anchors (sit down as many coaches like to say) then he would block off other defenders from getting to their spot.

DC Nolan had a good game plan using big fronts with Woods Poe and Hill often together and often using Aldon Smith like a 4-3 LB. It was almost good enough. They need time together and no more injuries.

The rams super bowl team didn't have talent?

I guess you must have never watched the rams that year because this statement makes zero sense.

and if you think that rams team was not talented you must thing this current cowboys team is a dumpster fire of talent.

I shudder at the thought of Nolan having a bad game plan if that was the good one.

Rams traded away a TON of 1st round picks and should be more "talented" on paper just like Dallas.

Coaching makes the world of difference, but Jerry Jones doesnt think so.

-Clearly Nolan did make some adjustments after halftime that certainly helped or this game was going to be a blowout. The defense did enough in the 2nd half to give this team a chance for victory. Considering how many snaps they had in the first half and being for the first regular season game is was one of the bright spots.

-It's very hard for offenses to get in rhythm when they don't see the ball enough. It actually puts more pressure on them to have to score as they don't know when they will receive the ball back. This is actually what the Cowboys used to do to their opponents in Dak's rookie season.

To be fair, Cowboys are running a complete, new defensive scheme with several new starters across the board. Add in they lost their starting MLB early in the game. It's going to take some time for this unit to gel. I was happy to see Nolan made adjustments at halftime that kept the team in the game.

To be fair, the Cowboys came within a non-call on that game-deciding offensive interference call on Michael Gallup.

As things turned out, it was very close game, all told. If that game were played at AT&T stadium, the Cowboys win.

I don't disagree there. My comment was more driven by the offense...and really just Jerry in general.

Theres a part of him that thinks he can coach the team.

There are coaches that do more with less and those that do less with more.

McVay is on one side, and anyone that you've seen recently in Dallas, or will see anytime soon is on the other....because Jerry wont be upstaged.

If and when this team ever wins again, it's going to be HIM up there grabbing that trophy first.

Offensively speaking, either zero changes were made or they found the first game to be a throwaway.

Either way, not acceptable.

1. True, and I remain a Nolan fan. I have confidence in him getting this right. I dont think he has the horses, but I think he will steer the ship in the right direction.

2. Its difficult for offenses when you make things so easy on the defense. They do absolutely nothing to attempt to confuse or disguise....and that was the ONE thing if nothing else I thought may change. I'm infuriated that it hasnt.

And for those of you that say its ONE game....you're right and I dont disagree. However, what does that mean??

Changes are coming but it was ok to throw away a game?

Come on.

What do you mean?? Michael Gallup would have scored a touchdown to win. He scored and it was discredited. Am I mistaken?

That's not what I got from the OP. He said KC won with wow players, and although the rams weren't as talented, they got there with scheme. That doesn't mean the Rams didn't have talent.

I don't think they just threw away the game, they had multiple opportunities in the fourth quarter to at least tie the game. We have no idea why the offense ran more vanilla type of plays, it's a fair point to make.

Yes. Gallup didn't score.

Also, you can't look at one play. Games are won or lost on the whole. Other plays went the Cowboys way that likely cost the Rams points.

...in all be told, we could have won the game. We were never out of it, even down to the last seconds. Chin up, suppose I say this team will surprise us. ;)..

OK, I guess maybe my old man's memory betrayed me, here. Did he go out of bounds close to a score, though? I thought he scored and it was voided by the call. Anyway, it turned out to be a pretty close game, by the time the game ended. I wasn't completely devoid of giving MM and his staff credit for, at least, being fairly competitive. McVay really had a sound game plan, however. That much was a given.

As bad as the D played we led at halftime. The Offense only had the ball for 24 minutes as well. We still had our chances. It was a game that looked like the Rams dominated, but we were right there. That’s why Mike is encouraged.

It was MM's decision to keep Kellen Moore and not changed much of the offense at least for this season. If the offense starts to struggle and the team continues to lose games, you can bet MM will be calling the plays once again.
