For the past couple of months I have been having issues with unwanted commercials popping up whenever I move from one website to another. I use a Malware Program, an adware program, and my virus protector is Microsoft essentials. I have run these things constant but cannot seem to get rid of this problem. Even coming to this site tonight I had to watch a nexium commercial before I could post or click on a a fprum to read.

I figure it has attache somewhere in the depths of this CPU but cannot find the program or file it is attached to. Sometimes I get a message that I can click something and bypass the ad but most times it just pops up and starts playing without a way to cancel it out.

The Malware program is Malware bytes and the adware program is ADWCleaner. Any ideas from the Computer Savants here would be appreciated. Thanks as always....

In my experience this kind of junk happens when I download a shady free program, like an unzipping program for files I recently got. I would look at all programs I have and uninstall the ones that are not necessary and probably the ones that from a crappy source. Next look at all add-ons in the browser, disable any tool bars and crap extensions that are weird looking and probably snuck in by downloads.

Then I would download a major anti-virus like Kapersky,Bitdefender etc and sweep out the things essentials misses because it misses a lot of this kind of stuff.

Last there is a free extension for browsers to stop this from happening, look on Cnet for something to stop ads on the web.

Monster, I work with a guy from Idaho that uses a Bittorent program that shares data. Could this be the culprit?

This is good advice.

You can have multiple anti-spyware programs on your computer but only one anti-virus program. Not every anti-spyware program will clean up every problem. At my work I'll use Malwarebytes and Super AntiSpyware (silly name but it works well) to clean up work computers. Ad-aware is a good program.

Antivirus.com will allow you to do a free "House call". Basically, it scans your computer using Trend Micro's anti virus software for free. I loved Microsoft's Security Essentials when it came out but it definitely doesn't catch everything.

BTW, removing the Bittorent program did not fix it. I had to watch a Nexium commecial again when I came on here this morning and while posting had a couple of others pop up that I could delete.

Download and install Bleach Bit. Run it and watch GB's of space freed back to you.

no, I am in Florida. We both do contract work for a company and sometimes he does the work and makes sure the data is in my system.

Oh. Just thought the way you phrased it was kinda comical.

"A guy from Idaho".

Almost like that in itself would be the culprit.

"Those Idahoans, ya know. One day they're connecting to your WiFi and the next day you're computer goes off the deep end".

Kinda struck me funny.

If you are on a Windows machine:

Open Control Panel then Open add/remove programs option
Go down the list and look for programs you do not recognize or are unneeded. If unsure, google the program name to see what it is.
Remove unneeded programs from your machine.
Restart your computer.

If you are using IE as your browser, STOP. DL Firefox or Chrome.

Good extensions to have for Firefox:
ADBlock
Ghosterly
Do not Track Me
No Script

Do a factory reinstall.
Don't go to "those " sites anymore.

I use Chrome for most of my work but some programs I use only work on IE. Realtor and appraiser programs.

I've often run across malware and viruses that can't successfully be removed without booting the computer into Safe Mode. Once you are in Safe Mode run your antimalware and antivirus scans again. If you are not familiar with using Safe Mode you can access it by tapping on the F8 key during the boot up process before the screen displays anything to do with Windows. Select Safe Mode from the displayed options and allow the boot process to complete. The screen will look a little funky since your video driver won't be loaded, you will be in standard VGA, but that is completely normal.
