OP has a good point. I didn't really think Romo made very smart throws last night on several occasions.

I can't even say "oh the running game" because the Giants run game was also putrid, yet Eli was able to move up and down the field on the defense in the second half.
Bogging down in the redzone is always a problem and it doesn't matter which WR's we have or which RB's we have or if Romo has more time to throw etc. It's the same problems year in and year out. Either the play calling is bad or Romo simply isn't getting it done.

How can not being able to run the ball so the defense doubleteams the WR's be Romo's fault? I've said it a thousand time, if you can't run the ball, and we can't, you're not going to be successful in the red zone.

Murray wasn't horrible out there or anything. He had over 100 yards from scrimmage. 4.3 yards per carry and 86 yards rushing isn't horrible. We had decent running, and the oline gave Tony plenty of time to throw. If Dez was double covered that should have opened the door up for other receivers.

If you do not know the point of the thread why create it? The OP knows the point and it is too create another I hate Romo thread.

That was in no way decent running game. Your too use to watching the Cowboys running game and therefore don't understand what a good running game is.

I'm pretty convinced that Garrett will never commit to a good running game. Because it is a commitment.

I don't think that is the case. NY is not an easy team to run on their strength is on the front line of that defense. I don't expect this to be the case every week at all. I do think who you are playing where their strength and weakness are will play a big part in what Callahan calls and prepares for during the week.

Could be right, but I just don't think it is in his makeup to commit to the running game. Neither is it in Romo's.
If you are committed to the running game, you have to be willing to still run even on plays like 3rd and 6, 3rd and 8.

It is obviously not in Jerry's makeup or he wouldn't scimp on the OL, until recently.

Even though the NFL has gone "pass crazy", .. I think our 90's Cowboys would still win in today's NFL, .. running behind Emmitt.

I think running is important as well. I think Callahan will run the ball but I also think who you play will help determine how much. I'm one who believes a running game can be critical to a team but even I would not continue to slam into a wall when I know there are plays down the field, because that is where the weakness is. I don't want Dallas to be one dimensional I also expect us to be smart.
I don't know that Jerry does not want a good OL, in the last 3 years 2 1st rd picks are placed on OL and yes in FA we did not get top FA but then our cap space has not been great yet we still went out and got Waters

A good running team doesn't care because they know their line will beat the DL. That's just a cop out. We had the lead and the ball with 7 minutes left and couldn't run the clock out. Cowboys haven't done that, much if at all, for years. Dallas hasn't won a championship in years either.

And a bad team is not smart enough to know that if we can't run vs a certain team that you don't just keep doing it. NY weakness is in the secondary their strenght in on teh DL look at who plays on it. Only an idioit would force something that is not there. What so we can say we ran the ball? Give me a break

I would love to get our running game going, .. it would only help Romo.

I want that as well. I don't think this 1 game will prove it one way or the other of how much or how successful or unsuccessful our running game will be.

No, to run the clock out to win a game. That's how you win in the NFL. If you can't when you're leading in the 4th qtr then you ain't winning championships. Give you a break? How about a lesson.

I think what he is saying is that a good running team doesn't care about the Giants front 4, .. they will run any way, .. successful against anyone.
It starts in July/preseason, not in middle of the 2nd quarter when you decide to run it, or late in the 4th when you are trying to run out the clock.

Running the ball is a commitment, it is a mindset, it is an attitude.

this one game is not the championship you do what ever you have to do to win. A lesson from you I don't think so. You would have them run even if they failed just to say you ran the ball? LOL

This 1 game is just that 1 game it is not going to determin what we do as the season moves forward

I get that but it is still about winning it is knowing your opponet their strenght and weakness. This is not the 90's Cowboys we deal with what we have you do what you have to do to win the game. This run offense was 31st not because we were not committeed because we got stuffed in the back field. I don't think this OL will be a top 5 running but we can improve, but at the end of the game you still go out and attack where you can have success not bang your head to prove something.

You still don't get it. Lesson failed. Read up on some NFL greats. Maybe you'll believe them about having to run the ball to win in the NFL.

Romo is an average QB... So he performed about how I expected.
