OP is right, though, that there was a weird reaction to the cut-downs. I *think* it's the fact that we let a couple of well-liked players go (Sterling Moore, Brandon McGee, maybe). And then we went long at an unpopular position in order to work a trade. Mostly, people somehow convinced themselves we were going to add DL depth for some reason, and then we didn't. And of course, there's the ever-present expectation that we'll find a starting-quality OG on the scrapheap somewhere and have added him to the roster last-minute. Adding unknowns like Edgar Jones and Kyle Bosworth at positions of no perceived need doesn't help matters.
Overall, though, it's 3-4 spots on the total roster, and we made the moves with good reasons and netted a couple picks in the process. Nothing to be depressed about. I'll admit, I'm interested to see what OL move we might make going into week 1 that's an improvement over some of the young guys we already passed on. It's not somebody we were swinging a small trade for, probably. And we've already missed the window for claiming anybody. That means it's either a street FA, one of our older players, or, maybe, a bold move--like bringing someone out of retirement? Maybe it's nothing and we'll just add an OL we liked that's on the street, but you'd think that if we really wanted that position addressed--and we were juggling in the last preseason game to cover that weakness--we'd have had a plan in place immediately for cutdowns like we did for STs.
