I agree about the conformation bias issue. It is a huge part of being a sports fan.
How often do we see "holding" against the other team, when we think it is a "ticky tack" foul when called against our team. When we have a hard hitter, the other side sees a cheap shot artist. Even something as simple as "did the ball cross the line" will be debated... with very predictable sides being drawn. In polotics, it is much worse than sports.
This is part of being a fan.
I will say, if there is enough evidence, we can overcome our biases... especially if it makes us happy. I thought Dallas was throwing away the season when Romo was put in for Bleadsoe... sometimes its fun to be wrong.
