Conor vs Floyd (hypothetical)

Who you guys got? With 8 oz gloves, boxing rules.

A lot of people are saying this may happen. Some say Floyd is grandstanding to stay relevant and won't tarnish his immaculate record.

Conor is crazy and wouldn't be hurt by a weaker Floyd, but Floyd (as boring as he is for non-enthusiasts) may just dance around him all night and land points with his defensive prowess.

So, what say you, Zoners? Does this happen, and if so, what do you think the outcome is?

Would love to hear the MMA enthusiasts and Boxing enthusiasts takes on this potential bout.

In a real fight, McGregor would destroy Mayweather like he was a child. This is why Floyd won't ever agree to anything but boxing. He needs those rules to survive.

It's why it's going to happen. For Floyd, it's easy money boxing an MMA fighter. For Conor, he'll get the biggest pay check of his career in another sport where no one expects him to win. It's a cash grab.

I wish Floyd had a pair and they came to a compromise. No ground fighting but kicks allowed. Let's do a kickboxing bout. McGregor KOs him stiff in that fight.

Agree with all of this.
If they really cared about manning up instead of just pocketing mega fight money, they'd agree to do two fights, one boxing rules and one mama style.

Aldo wants to box too. So he says. Nate Diaz recently applied for a boxing license in Nevada.

These guys will learn the hard way you can't go into boxing at 30ish and compete with life long elite boxers. Just like they can't come over to MMA at the same age and compete at the highest level.

In some fights he actually let the opponent in, to mix it up, and on occasion they would give a round or two to the opponent.

To be very clear, Floyd only lets you do what he lets you. Yes, there is the occasional one punch that catches him but I can't say I've seen him hit with a true combination.... only if he lets you in to mess with you.

His mastery of his defense is the best ever!



Now, with all that said... the only chance Connor would have is to really ca ch him with a big blow (even that, Floyd knows how to not take the next shot and recover).... other than playing roughhouse boxing .... Connor has no shot! No chance!

A fight by any means is not fair. It's a fight! A fight with rules and regulations is what we watch on TV, whether MMA or boxing.

Mayweather was scared to fight Manny when everyone wanted it, asking for one concession after another. Once again Mayweather gets a fight that works in his favor if it ever happens. Mayweather is a chump!

Likely a fight that never lives up to the hype. Floyd would back peddle all night. Conor would have a few wild swings and leave himself open to counters.

In a boxing match, Floyd could hurt him really badly. Although the way Floyd thinks he will put down the street pride to win on points and set up a re-match. But, if Floyd was set on destroying Conor, he would win with ease and I would really question any commission that would sanction this match.

Boxing is a whole different game compared to kickboxing and MMA type striking. In fact, that's when MMA bores me...when it becomes a kickboxing match because neither guy can go to the ground. And what you see is really sloppy and terrible boxing skills.

In a MMA match, Conor destroys Floyd easily.
