Conservative Passers

No matter how many stats disprove Dak is a dink and dunker, the Dak haters will not budge off their false claim. It isn’t even worth discussing with them since they are bound and determined to dismiss objective data in favor of their (blind) eye ball test.

Creativity? What's that? All one needs to do is "fight."
Agree. Example: Dak to Garrett. “Hey coach, let’s have Dez run a shallow crossing route vs the man coverage they will play, Beas’s natural pick should give Dez a couple yards seperation”. Garrett to Dak. “No, Dez is physical. Throw him a come back pattern vs man. Dez will out fight him for the ball”. While Dak is walking back to the huddle Garrett is yelling, “fight, fight, fight”.

When you can't throw over 200 yards for half the season I don't care what Dak does right, he needs to fix what he does wrong. How many passes are going to go to the DB instead of the WR, that needs to stop. Throwing into double and triple coverage then saying your wr is holding your coach and QB hostage, that petty whining needs to stop. Running into sacks instead of simply moving up in the pocket?

If you want to say Dak isn't dink n dunk what does that accomplish? I'm hoping, but will be waiting for the real problems to be corrected.

It's real simple. If you claim there is an issue, make sure it is legit. If you claim something is an issue that clearly is not an issue, then quit saying it is an issue when it is proven to be false. That's not complicated is it?

And I don't want to say Dak isn't a dink and dunker. It's the constant (false) claims that he only throws 10 yard passes the entire 2 years he's been the QB when objective data shows he is in line with what this offense has typically done. He throws downfield at almost the identical rate Romo did for his career, which is back up by objective stats.

I, too, would like for the "real problems" to be corrected. I would just like the "imaginary problems" to quit being brought up.

That's only if you look at stats the way you want to. People love percentages and ratings when they talk about Dak, because his attempts and yards are so woefully short of those he's being compared to.

Stats are not objective like so many think they are.

I don't care if your QB rating is 135 if you were 7 for 9 for 90 yards and a TD because Zeke took a screen 60 yards for a score. Dak isn't hitting deep slants 25 yards downfield that are going for scores at the rate that the good quarterbacks do.

That's where we need him to get to. Good defenses destroy him because he's just not an NFL starting caliber quarterback yet.

There are objective stats and then there is a subjective interpretation of those stats. Some stats are simply facts. I can say for a fact that Dak has been the starting QB for 33 regular and post season games. That is a stat measuring the times he was the starter. You claiming he hasn't started those games because you don't think he is a starting caliber QB doesn't change the fact he has started the games, as an example.

That is essentially what Dak haters are doing with this dink and dunk crap. You don't like Dak, don't think he is good, don't think he throws deep enough, don't think he is good when he throws deep, etc does not change the fact he throws deep at almost identical rates as Romo did for his career here.

So maybe instead of saying Dak doesn't throw deep or he only throws 10 yard passes, the complaint should be he needs to improve when throwing the ball deep. It might lead to a better discussion.

If someone brings up accuracy issues then all the defenders state accuracy percentage and 22-10 and blames the oline and every receiver for any incompletes. There were games in 2016 and 2017 I felt bad for Dak and I felt bad that our QB was Dak because he would miss so many "easy" throws or simply put the ball in the wrong spot. No matter the discussion with Dak there will be deflection and defenders because of his 2016 performance and the Dez hate train in 2017.

Typically there are 2 extreme sides dominating the discussion. One side is going to be heavy into blaming and the other is going to be heavy into excusing. The reality is neither side of the extreme provides much in terms of worthy discussion because it's mainly just exaggerated claims.

I can't stand articles like this, I mean what is the author really trying to convey here?

It's like he is cherry picking metrics to advertise that a short passing game dosen't work all while admitting that some team's do it highly highly successfully. Well what I would like the author to do is lift their head out of the box and explain to me why "those" teams can make it highly successful, when your analytics and data says it shouldn't be.

They keep rambling about throwing short of the sticks on third down. Could it have something to do with defenses typically blitzing on third and long thus not providing time for you sit around and be choosy about it???
