The game Dallas was "gifted" by the refs against Detroit was the lead sports story until probably around Thursday....the game where the refs "stole" the game from Dallas in Green Bay is no longer a national story! I'm just sayin............

Pretty accurate. Last Wednesday, there was still outrage. This week, no big deal disregard the fact the Bryant screw job had a bigger impact in the overall result.

well, intsead of bellyaching Caldwell, our coach said "we had 56 minutes before the call, and 4 minutes after to do something about it." May be that's why it died, although I still get the sense people are talking about it.

I still hear people talking about it too. And people are suggesting that a rule change might be in order. They weren't talking about a rule change with respect to the Detroit controversial call.

And I can pretty much bet that this controversial call will get more play next year than the Detroit controversial call because everyone's now debating what actually constitutes a catch. I heard Ryan Clark (whom I respect highly as a NFL commentator even as a current player) say that in every other walk of life Dez's catch is a catch. You ask four nuns or four kids, and all of them will say that was a catch ... except in the NFL.

There's a lot of controversy surrounding that play. It may seem to have died down, but it hasn't.

Most people believed the reversal in the Detroit game was wrong.

Most people believe the reversal in the Green Bay game was right.

And prob because the Detroit call was wrong, that people feel the Dallas-GB call was right.

That's part of it.

Also part of it is the league admitted to the mistake afterwards in the Detroit game which gave it more life.

To my knowledge they have not done so with this one, and that's exactly as I had expected it to be.

That's not why it died. why it died is because the cowboys hating national media,( who lied to us about this being a good call) and who cried all last week about the flag being picked up. and how the Lions were done so wrong. they can feed that lie all they want.the NFL cheated the cowboys. that was a catch by Dez, and everyone knows it. i do agree that Garrett, Jerry and Stephen Jones should be screaming from the roof top about this BS. and they are just sitting their and letting this BS go. it's a disgrace.

Yes. Caldwell and his players used the call as an excuse despite him saying it wasn't an excuse. Then they also got information out there about officials admitting that there were blown calls in the game, which led to Dallas getting information out there that there were blown calls in the game.

Garrett and his players have said the reversal is not an excuse and haven't used it for one. Now, it won't surprise me for Dez to speak up when prompted just because I don't know if he can contain the feeling he has.

No, the Detroit call was correct, no PI on that play as shown here, instead there should have been a facemask call on Pettigrew. The only time Hitchens made contact was to slap Pettigrew's fingers off of his facemask.

However, you have not seen that replay angle because it does not fit the narrative that the national media wanted, plus all those Cowboy haters are not going to admit they were wrong.

So it will go down in history as the Lions getting screwed because they reversed the PI call, but those who bother to find the truth know it was the correct call.

The coaches and players have both been pretty classy about this. I fully expected the Cowboys to turn that play into the league office to have them explain, as is often done, but haven't heard anything about it. Hopefully they just let it go, which they should. Let Detroit and the Cowboy haters do the whining.

I agree with Dez, "If that's what they have to do to beat the Cowboys they can have it."

Wait. Why would the Detroit call spark a rule change? The referee who threw the flag was going to penalize Hitchens for faceguarding. Faceguarding is not a penalty in the NFL. Has discussion centered upon the NFL adopting the college rule because of Detroit call?

Dean Blandino, NFL vice president of officiating:
"You could debate whether it's pass interference. The defender is not playing the ball — that's the first thing the officials look for," Blandino said. "But that's not pass interference by itself. You can face-guard (defend without playing the ball) in the NFL; face-guarding is a foul in college but it's not a foul in the NFL."
http://www.detroitnews.com/story/sp...-chief-pass-interference-right-call/21299713/

I would describe the inclusion of faceguarding in the NFL rulebook as an rule amendment, not necessarily a rule change. I do think the current pass completion rule should undergo certain revisions. That would more define a rule change in my opinion.

The more I look at it, the more I question how it's so indisputable that the catch wasn't a catch that the call on the field was overturned. I just don't see it.

https://vine.co/v/ODZTaF23VwH

That gets worse every time I see it. Catch, 3 steps, switch hands, lunge 2 inches short of the endzone.

People can argue the catch all they want. But the fact that the officials found it "indisputable" is beyond me. If there's ANY sort of grey area you have to stick with the call on the field. Terrible.

I guess you can call it "classy" that our organization is not showing outrage.....but I am sorry...I feel outrage! That kid climbed the ladder and made the catch of the year....sure odell beckhams looked better...but this was playoff football....4th down....on the road...and we were behind. How you can take that from this kid....i am outraged. Everything Dez has been through....everything Romo has been through...all the crap we take as a fanbase....everything this organization has been through trying to get back on top....and some suits in New York just reduce to nothing in a matter of seconds! Who knows if the defense would have stopped Rodgers...but you do NOT say Dez didn't catch that ball!!!!!!!!!!! I am a fan and I lost faith in this game after that...imagine what the players are going through!!!!

I Have lost interest in watching this weekends game...I GUESS I will watch the Super Bowl! Who knows. But when they say Dallas has not done such and such in X amount of years....or Romo has never won a big game...yada...yada...yada. How obvious is it that they want to advance that narrative...milk that storyline....as long as they can!!!!

Just think: if we'd handled our own business, nobody'd be talking about it at all.

I consider completing a pass that would give us 1st and goal at the 1 for the lead with 4 minutes left, handling our business.

It was bound to be a close game trying to win in GB. Both teams had one turnover and a handful of plays they would do differently.

We handled our business by being in a position to take a very late lead and it was flat out stolen from us.

I will not forget it.

I've had Skins and Giants fans tell me we got robbed. But it is what is...we let Dez be a decoy for the playoff run and that is on the team, not the refs.

Controversial Call in Detroit hung around longer-it's like the steeler that someone didn't flush down the toilet- the longer it's there, the more it smells.
