Improving the front seven is the best way to improve your defensive backfield.

Agreed, though I don't Bosa or Buckner are that great. I don't think they're busts, but I'm not convinced either of them are Pro-Bowlers either. A #4 pick should be a guy that is top five at his position for ten years.

It's a nice pic, but I studied Jalen and Vernon Hargreaves in the combine. I played a lot of corner/wr growing up, so I kinda watch for certain things. I really thought Hargreaves was more fluid and MUCH better hands. Also noticed, Hargreaves locates the ball much better then Ramsey. But hey, Ramsey looks like he tackles better then Hargreaves.

Kid is a beast. A lot of fans (especially here) will point to a lack of tangible stats in college but I spoke to coaches from Florida State, Clemson, Louisville, and Florida. Obviously the Florida State coaches are going to say great things about him. Ex-Cowboy Mario Edwards said the Cowboys would be fools to pass on him at 4 but also said there's no chance he makes it to 4. The coaches from Florida and Louisville sung his praises as well. Clemson said they made a concentrated effort to avoid Ramsey.

Are you a scout or a professional writer? Are you credentialed or do you just shoot out emails to anyone who will respond?

Pretty much what I have been saying for months. Hargreaves' ability to locate the ball is exponentially better than anyone else in this draft. He gets his head around and high points the ball very well. He doesn't have the incredible athleticism that Ramsey has, but he is a technician already. He's also much more fluid in his back pedal and turn than Ramsey (which doesn't matter much if Ramsey plays safety). I do think Hargreaves is a better corner than Ramsey is a S or CB right now though.

I wonder who from the Cowboys was at Fl State pro day. Know Garrett was not, as the only HC's who were was Tenn/Pitts. Be interesting if they have some sort of get together like they did at OSU.

They actually moved him from Safety to Corner.

Yep. They moved him to CB his Junior year but technically he was always a CB. He got on the field right away in 2013 at Safety and Nickel because the Seminoles were loaded at CB with Lamarcus Joyner, PJ Williams, and Ronald Darby.

I prefer Hargreaves as well. I've little interest in a corner that can't get turnovers.

Ramsey checks all the boxes, and you can't really be upset by picking someone of his talent. However, playmakers don't typically just happen in the pros, especially if they weren't one in college.

I like this argument. I will argue that I want athletic freaks like Jones last year and like Ware was. I think you have a better chance of a playmaker with transcendent athleticism. I think the draft is a crapshoot, so if you can find a passionate, disgustingly athletic individual, you have a better chance than a stat guy.

What the picture doesn't show is that he dropped the ball. ;)

For sure, I understand.

Not to nitpick though, but Ware was a playmaker in college--very good at getting to the QB, exactly what he excelled at in the pros. Jones wasn't a great playmaker in college. And has shown the same in the pros. Though at 27, he was obviously worth the risk. But at 4? I'd like to see the transcendant athlete with the stats to back it up

I don't advocate for Hargreaves at 4. I'd like him in a trade down. He's not worth the pick either, I don't think.

I hear you, a trade down for Hgreaves I'm super down with. Look I don't actually know who's the most athletic freaks the scouts see, but I think its a real thing.

I'm watching "Path to the Draft" on espn. They are talking up Ramsey. Showing highlights of him at pro day. I'm surprised they dont see what I'm watching. His back pedal is not fluid, he jumps to catch a ball when he doesn't need to, and right when they said that there is alot to like about him on the field. He drops an INT.

If we are looking for a corner, I'd prefer a trade down for Hargreaves.

Anyone here watch alot of FSU games with Ramsey? I'm wondering if he didn't have alot of turnovers because he has bad hands for a corner/safety and just dropped several INTs.

I believe he's a coach at a smaller (JUCO maybe?) college. He's talked a few times about players he's coached there. I'm assuming you're being genuine with your questions btw.

He dropped one or two from what I recall. He was generally completely game planned away from though so his opportunities weren't very regular. You don't see a team try to avoid players like they would Ramsey very often. It was pretty apparent watching his tape.

I think he's definitely a Safety and will be a damn goodone imo. He can play in the box, cover TEs/RBs or play deep. I don't think he's going to be a great CB though. He's not fluid enough to cover these smaller, shiftier WRs we see more and more of now so I doubt he gets many snaps as a nickel CB playing the slot. I think he will see some time at CB, but against bigger WRs on the outside. I wouldn't expect thst to be his primary position though. I've actually seen a lot of people saying Jones was/is a better prospect at CB than Ramsey is.
