What do you guys think? I’m not talking about stats. Would you guys rather have Cooper or Cooks as WR2? I do think Cook gives us that deep threat we’ve been missing, and has good hands. Cooper beats him in route running.
Cooks will cost 12 mil
Cooper costs 23 mil..
....so do you mean 2 Cooks = Copper?

It's not the same thing.

Having said that, I thought the Cooper trade was dumb. Should have gotten way more.

That’s BS! Jerry was pissed because he got sick and had to miss a couple of games. He talked about how upset he was about it during his radio interview. A lot of us knew that could spell the end for Cooper in Dallas.
No. Cooper took plays/series off during key games during the years he was here. We all saw it. Remember against the Eagles and several other key games? Even during the 49ers playoffs loss in 2021, the media kept replaying several plays late in the 4th quarter where Cooper half arsed his play on the field with the game on the line.

Yes, Cooks can be one and done, but Cooper might have been the difference in a Super Bowl last year. We had no legit #2 receiver. Teams would have had to pick their poison with Lamb and Cooper.

And the 18m they would have saved last year would have helped cover Coopers salary this coming year and he could have been cut in 2024.
Maybe he would have been the difference but maybe he wouldn’t have either.

Personally I would have kept cooper but it’s old news, and I’m onto the effect cooper would have in 2023 not 2022. I get why the cowboys moved on but I think the bigger mistake was counting on an injured Gallup, James Washington, and a 3rd round rookie to replace him. A better replacement + the salary relief makes a ton of sense. Letting a WR1/2 Go and replacing with scraps and a guy coming off an Acl injury wasn’t a smart bet.

Cooper wore out his welcome and that’s why he is gone. Not to mention he disappeared half the time. Give me Cooks and let’s go after it!
Let's get the story straight...Cooper held his ground against the clot shot. Refused to let Dr. Jerry dictate his life. Can't blame him. Funny how anyone with half a brain...and a set of balls...Jerry can't get along with.

We have the benefit of experiencing Cooper's productivity as a Cowboy so I don't know if this is really a fair question. Also, we acknowledged, ast the time, that Cooper was the #1 WR. This is not the same in Cooks's case. He will be the #2 at most. Some of Cooks's eventual value will be the effect of his presence on Lamb's productivity. He may also open up the running game with the ability to stretch the field and bring defenders with him.

I think Cooper was a great choice, he was what the Cowboys needed at the time, a #1 receiver. Cook's skill set is what the Cowboys need right now, a speedster that defenses must respect.,

No, Cooks does not replace Cooper, why should he? Cooper was replaced by Lamb. Money wasn't the only issue. Not only was Lamb just as prolific as Cooper, he was younger and had a far more intriguing trajectory.

I’d rather have Cooper but only because he’s a proven commodity in this offense.

However, you have to take contract into account and Cooper literally costs two times more than Cooks. At that rate, Cooks is better for the roster.

Dallas could have reworked Coopers deal just like they have reworked Dak and Martin and so many others. This came down to Cooper pissing off the Jones boys.
CLE reworked his deal and now he is the 3rd highest cap hit at WR in the NFL.
He was going to cost 66M over 3 years on the cap, period.
Team has to eat 6M regardless but Cooper is NOT and was NOT worth that kind of jack (20M AAV) and I wish more Cowboys fans could be honest about that.

He PO'd the Jones after they PO'd him but not restructuring him and seeing his targets fall while CeeDee's rose.

Cooks and Cooper are essentially equivalent statistically so I's choose the guy that costs 10M LESS on the cap this year.

Cooks and especially for the price. More of what we need opposite lamb.

The trade for Cooks makes me feel better about trading away Cooper for similar compensation. To me they both have a similar career trajectory and it's now a wash.

Maybe Cooper was a good #2 all along and not an elite WR he was paid for.

I think Cooper has a quietly abrasive personality. Can’t go back to that. It would just give him a sense of vindication and he’d be super awesome in the building.

Cooper admitted he didn’t play well against Philly in that 2019 game, but Garrett denied ever benching him because of his performance. No coach is going to pull their best receiver from a game on a fourth down play with their season on the line. If they were going to bench him, they would’ve done it a lot sooner. As for the playoff game against San Francisco in 2021 Cooper was our leading WR in that game with 6 catches for 64 yards and one TD. He was our only receiver to score. CeeDee took all the criticism for only having one catch and a drop.

I understand all of that. That's not what I'm talking about. The media talked about other plays towards the end of the playoff game.

The Cooper trade was so stupid that Jerry started talking about it during his last media session despite the fact that no one even asked him about it. Lol He’s still trying to justify it.
865 yards for 22 million justified it. lol

Not sure if I already replied, bu this is a ridiculous argument.

It’s not cooks vs amari

Might as well make a thread about Zeke vs Emmitt.

You’re just stirring up mess for no reason.

It wasn’t his fault he wasn’t being targeted enough. Many who cover the game blamed Kellen Moore, including Cooper during a radio interview. He had just under 1200 yards and 9 TDs in Cleveland with a bad QB situation.
