"He played in the MAC, not the SEC. If he made some of those throws against NFL cornerbacks and safeties they turn into pick-sixes. He's a great kid, he's smart, but he falls below the minimum standard for arm strength." - Area scout for AFC team

If this is really the case ...... I really have not seen a weak arm in preseason.

They talk of him having a poor body. However that could have been improved upon, and if so could have led to more velocity on his throws.

Accuracy and smarts trumps arm strength
If you don't have the cannon throw the deep ball quicker
Problem solved
He may not fit those over the middle throws in tight windows but he has good accuracy

Moore can throw it over 50 yards. Look at his college tape and highlights. But everything over 10-15 yards downfield is floated. There is no velocity.

I am not sure that Rush's arm is that much better. He hasn't thrown a lot of challenging balls....his thing has been that he has been throwing on time....before the receiver breaks so even if tightly covered the ball is there even for a tight window.

What is funny is that people talk about qb's getting stronger and improving their velocity. If it is so easy to do, why hasn't Moore worked to improve his?

Agreed. A MLB pitcher whose fastball has always been 90-91 MPH, even with years of dedicated "arm strength training" will never be able to throw a 100MPH fastball.

But honestly, arm strength isn't the number one factor in being a successful QB. Rush seems to have the intangibles and plays with anticipation rather than reacting to what he sees. Being smart and accurate can usually overcome the lack of velocity
