Cooper Rush

Very stoked about him. We've had tons of QB's with experience that never played that well in the PS. It was always Romo goes in and scores a TD than we struggled the rest of the game just trying to get a 1st down!

Just between us old timers, isn't it nice to be able to root for some 'underdog' on the roster...for real?

Hopefully we won't have to see him this year (because that means either Dak continues to suck or he's hurt), but I am excited to see him in the pre-season.

:laugh:This was great.

Rush appears to be the best backup QB prospect we've had in a very long time, although much remains to be seen at this point. Nevertheless, it's a breath of fresh air to have a backup who at least appears to have a shot at a successful future. Add me to the list of those anxious to see him perform in TC and beyond. His passing appeared to be extremely accurate last year. Let's see if that continues this time around.

Plenty of back ups built careers after having one wonder season. Matt Cassel and Matt Flynn comes to mind.

Rush might have one nice year ala Dak, but what would Rush bring to the table once teams figure his tendencies out, scheme him and Garrett and crew do nothing to adjust? You'll see the same thing happen to him that happened to Dak. Anyways, let's trade Dak then, since fans are so sold on Rush. I'm sure we can at least get a first for him.

Never have I said Rush was the answer, never have I said Dak never would improve. All I've been saying is we still are in serch of a franchise QB at this moment in time.

At least we know Rush has ONE thing you can't coach into a QB - a live arm. These quarterbacks typically take a little seasoning to develop. So far so good with this kid.
He displays the ability and confidence to make down feild throws in tight windows. That touch pass to Gathers over the linebacker's shoulder right into the breadbasket was a thing of beauty.

You know who else played great in the preseason last year? Dak Prescott .

What i really like about Rush is he seems calm back there and has very good pocket awr.....unlike Dak who just seems scared and unsure in the pocket....

He has a great play fake also, which was mentioned in the video clip.

doesn't matter if Rush comes in and plays lights out. "I've already got my Dak jersey and his fat head. Rush sucks" lmao... don't ever try to get better, just be happy you have an okay guy.

He could be our Kirk Cousins. If Dak pans out then we have somebody who might have trade value down the line and if Dak's game starts to fall apart then maybe he can step in and keep us from having to start from scratch.

So yeah, I want to see what he can do.

I’ve heard Rush could be our Kirk Cousins and Dak could be our RG3 like that would be a good thing. What did that do for Washington? Both those QBs ended up 0-1 in the playoffs for them and neither one of them are still with the team. The Commanders ended up over paying an aging Alex Smith because they didn’t want to over pay Cousins who’s a better QB than Smith. They figured they weren’t getting anywhere with Cousins so they moved on from him.

Dak is no RG3. And we don't know how well Cooper Rush can play if he was in Dak's shoes especially against Atlanta and being sacked 6 times.

Tell that to some on the board that are convinced Dak can’t play and Rush is the answer. You have one fan on here who wants to trade Dak and start Rush next season. There can’t be a more ridiculous fan base than this one.

Could be said for the same if this forum existed when Aikman sucked in his first season.

The team sucked in Troy’s first season. He lost his RB in a trade early in the season and lost both his starting WRs due to injury. Even in some of the losses Aikman played exceptionally well and you could see his potential. He tossed for a then rookie passing record of 379 yards versus the Cardinals and tossed 4 TDs against the Rams in a close 31-34 loss. Troy was given some leeway after his rookie season because the team was so bad and he was the number one overall pick.

Even if we had fan boards back then most would have been in support of Aikman. If Dak was the number one overall pick or a first round pick no one on this board would be wanting to move on from him after just two seasons. Too many are looking at his 4th round draft status. They don’t like his short game managing passing game. He’s been labeled a bus driver by many Cowboy fans and an in accurate passer. One fan even went as far as to claim he has a noodle for an arm. There’s a lot of idiots here.

Cousins played well enough to win. People seem to think that you have to have a HOF QB to win - we don't.

Scrap the Rudy Ruetiger stories at QB and get a blue chip QB and use Dak as a backup like he was drafted to be. Cooper is a practice squad QB at best. The only reason why he was a back up last year is because his competition was only practice squad quality too.
Not true. Cooper played in the 10 year old girl's league and had the 3rd best arm in the entire league!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
