Cooper Rush

The team sucked in Troy’s first season. He lost his RB in a trade early in the season and lost both his starting WRs due to injury. Even in some of the losses Aikman played exceptionally well and you could see his potential. He tossed for a then rookie passing record of 379 yards versus the Cardinals and tossed 4 TDs against the Rams in a close 31-34 loss. Troy was given some leeway after his rookie season because the team was so bad and he was the number one overall pick.

Even if we had fan boards back then most would have been in support of Aikman. If Dak was the number one overall pick or a first round pick no one on this board would be wanting to move on from him after just two seasons. Too many are looking at his 4th round draft status. They don’t like his short game managing passing game. He’s been labeled a bus driver by many Cowboy fans and an in accurate passer. One fan even went as far as to claim he has a noodle for an arm. There’s a lot of idiots here.
Aikmann blew major chunks as a rook.

Competition at every spot. Let the best man win. Dak's performance last year merits competition.

Several rankings have the 89 Cowboys as one of the top 10 worst teams in NFL history. Aikman had virtually nothing to work with during that season. He struggled mightily in some games but still showed major potential. The Cowboys had a horrible OL, traded their best offensive threat away early that season and both starting WRs were lost for the season. A rookie QB couldn’t be in a worse situation than that. Jimmy was so sure about Aikman that he traded Steve Walsh early the following season.

Cousins played well enough to win. People seem to think that you have to have a HOF QB to win - we don't.

Cousins played well enough to win what? If he played well enough to win anything the Commanders would’ve signed him to a long-term deal. He only led Washington to the playoffs once going 0-1. He’s put up some good numbers but doesn’t throw a lot of TDs for the amount of yards he passes for. In 2016 he passed for almost 5000 yards but only tossed 25 TDs. He’s had three straight 4000 yard seasons but never threw for more than 29 TDs plus his INT’s have gone up each of the last 3 seasons. Washington opted for Alex Smith who was cheaper and although he hasn’t won anything big, has been to the playoffs five times and led SF to the NFC title game a few years ago.

Plus he doesn’t turn the ball over very much. Who would you rather have at QB Cousins for 28M per season or Dak? Would you want to pay a QB 28M per season who’s not as good as Romo? Don’t get me wrong Cousins is a good QB but I doubt he’s worth $10 million a year more than the QB Minnesota had last season. If he doesn’t lead the Vikings to at least a Super Bowl appearance he’s going to end up a disappointment.

Dak=some guy with polio.. never seen any guy who doesn't bend his knees, but I guess that helps him when he panics with a little pressure.

Heck Frankenstein could out run him in a 40 and has more bend in his knees.

Trade Dak, start Moore he can be a player coach..

Rush appears to have a live arm and a very accurate one at that. Of course, he'll need to demonstrate many other good qualities before he proves himself but so far, he's off to a great start. Like most fans at CZ, I'm looking forward to seeing more of him at training camp. I've read and heard where the Dallas staff is very pleased about what he's demonstrated so far. Of course, he's a work in progress, so there's a long way to go before the final tests are passed. So far, so good.

Aikman looked like a pro bowler every time he stepped on the field as a rookie. To say he instantly passed the eye test is an under statement. His stats were poor as he was on a 1-15 team.

Hopefully Rush can stay Healthy, and push Dak to get better. His cap number is much lower than some veteran FA QB.

Who else is excited to see this kid play? Did great in the pre season, like to see how he progressed .
