I don't watch over the air content so I don't have an antenna.

My setup at the house is a TV in the living room which has an Nvidia Shield TV plugged into it as well as a Steam Link for gaming via my PC in the office. I also have a TV in the master bedroom which has an Amazon Fire TV plugged into it.

For movies/TV, I torrent via seedbox. I have Plex Media Server running on the seedbox and I stream directly to my set top boxes here at home which are running Plex. It's all automated via Couchpotato and Sonarr so I have a nice frontend to add movies and television and I always have the latest episodes downloaded of the shows I watch.

For sports, I have MLB.TV for streaming and I use NFL2GO for my Cowboys streaming needs. MLB.TV has its own app for Fire TV and Android so that's easy peasy. For NFL2GO, I run it as a Kodi plugin.
We have similar setups. Nfl2go is awesome.

Youtube has been a rock... with music, history, general information...
I watch a lot of youtube... used to make fun of my nieces and nephews for their intake... now I'm right there with them.

need to learn how to unplug a drain?... go to youtube
want to know how an engine works? go to youtube
want to research new camera reviews? go to youtube
want to learn how to improve your swimming techniques? go to youtube

etc, etc, etc.....
Agree. All the Dateline ID shows, History Channel shows, Documentaries, Stand Up Comedy Specials, etc. I use it quite a bit as well. It turned itself into one great App for the TV.

Just wanted to thank everyone for contributing, you all have some cool setups. Somehow I knew @Sam I Am would have a setup, haha.

Lots of learning to do. Don't want to have a dedicated server running as I underrated plex requires, so I may look to kodi.

Suggestions on the low hanging fruit approach are welcome. Thanks!
I don't have a Plex server either. I have friends that do and I just watch their stuff. :)

I've thought many times about setting one up. Actually, I was looking at a home NAS that has the ability to run a Plex server. (QNAP or Synology) They can not only runs apps like Plex server, but many can act as virtualization servers so you can run other OSes virtually while obviously they are a home NAS so you can backup your files to it.

I don't know how much money I've saved using Youtube how tos.

Fixed my DLP TV several times, replaced sensors in my front-loading washer. The part cost $1.50 online, but repair bill was $450! A $1.50 and three hours later, works like new! I also repaired the valve switch on my basement sump pump! That was a dirty job, but it only cost $12 and an hours worth of time vs full replacement cost at over $250.

Best part, I learn to do new stuff!

Yes indeed....
I fixed a very expensive camera that was reading error by watching youtube... before sending it to the manufacturer, went to youtube... the video, said, "smack it on the eyepiece"... duh, why didn't I think of that... worked.. lol

Netflix 7.99
Hulu 7.99 (only for criterion edition movies, & south park)
Amazon Prime 99.00 for the year (costs bundled with shipping benefits)
Leech off my parents "Watch Fios" for espn, hbogo, etc... (which is fair, they do the same with my netflix, hulu, & prime)
I have a chrome stick and Fire Stick.. don't use them often... someone jailbroke the FS, but it stopped working and I have yet to reload kodie...
& Im eligible for the streaming option of the NFL ticket... will order that before the season go.

I can honestly count the amount of times on two hands (maybe even one) that I watch TV in a week... don't have much time, but also not much interest honestly.

I got Sunday Ticket a few years ago but I can't seem to remember. Do you get all the games on it? For example, I'm pretty sure you don't get Monday or Thursday games. But I also don't remember if you even get Sunday Night ESPN games. And I read somewhere that you only get the non-televised games. So since 9-10 Cowboys games are usually televised each year, does that mean you'd only get 6-7 games on Sunday Ticket? Seems like an awful deal if so.

No monday, sunday or thursday night games.. its all sunday fox & cbs early and late games... nationally televised games in your area aren't on the ticket either... but at that point they're on your local fox & cbs affiliate...

As you know, here in the 718 there's probably 6-8 games that will make the ticket valuable for cowboys fans.
either that or go to a bar..The amount of money spent in a bar is best served on the ticket (cheaper & better liquor/ definitely healthier food)......and I don't have the pertinence to scroll through kodi, and/or look for online streaming options.

Better solutions......clean streaming, no hassle, I'm open...
I haven't pulled the trigger yet..

That's quite a setup, I need to really educate myself more. I just put plex on roku and started messing with that. Trying to figure out which unsupported channels etcb are best. A lot seem to not be working. So much to learn.

Definitely need to learn what you're saying about seedbox, couch potato and sonarr....

What are you running kodi on?

I have Kodi installed on both my Nvidia Shield TV and Amazon Fire TV. It's a bit more complicated to install it on the Fire TV but there are guides on how to sideload it. As far as the Shield TV, it's as easy as firing up the Google Play store app and installing it.

Just curious, can you watch the games on a laptop? I've been pulling my hair out this past hour. First I go on the Sunday Ticket website and I buy the TO GO for $200. (I figured it'd be a good investment since my antenna and Sunday Ticket would get me all but the Monday Night game.) I see there's some MAX option for more money but the TO GO option says it works on laptops and that's all I need. Then I go to "Get the app" and the only options it shows are for mobile devices (only App Store for iPhone and iPad but not for Macbook). So now I see the app in my iTunes store but it's not opening on my Mac because it's an iPhone app. Then I look into the whole NFL2Go thing and follow directions on Reddit. I register, request an invite, get an approval, and I'm told I need to send 0.047 bitcoin ($27.40 USD) to some address. So I look into how to get bitcoins and it's all downhill from there. I don't want to use a debit/credit card so I look into gift cards. I email an Apple gift card to myself and realize they're only getting back 50 cents on the dollar. So now I'm stuck with a $30 Apple gift card. Then I see Amazon gift cards are going for 87 cents on the dollar so I get one of those. Then after buying a $35 Amazon gift card via email, I see that they only accept physical gift cards with the paper receipt. I'm at the point where I'd rather just pay $200 for Sunday Ticket so I don't have to deal with bitcoins, but now I can't even get the app to work on my Mac. Making we wanna drink.

I use http://circle.com for buying and sending bitcoins. You can do it via credit card, debit, or bank account. They have nice security features which can be annoying at times (SMS verification on just about everything) but its worth it for peace of mind.

I think I'm gonna do Sling TV ($25 a month) for 4 months. Comes with all the basic channels and some more. I recently got an antenna and it's not bad but it flickers a bit and I don't want to get pissed off during my games. I'd rather spend $100 bucks than break everything in my house every Sunday.

In case you didn't know you can jail break those Firesticks and get EVERYTHING for free. Tutorials on youtube.
Yeah i did that. That is why I have 3 :).

I am also going to include Sling TV Blue because of the NFL Network and Redzone until the football season is over.

I will still need to use the Amazon Firestick for Monday Night Football because I don't think $20 for ESPN and Disney alone is worth it.

Yeah, I was reading up on those options as well - ultimately I should probably spend more time exercising and learning to read a book ;) What I do need is some other folk's cable accounts for online stream. So far I have TWC one, but that doesn't give you ABC, etc...not that there's much great on, but damn it I wants what I can't have!
