Corners

I'd love to know what your definition of a good corner is and I'd like to see a list of these teams you said have 4 of them.

They do huh? How bout naming some of these "good" 4th CB's teams have for us.

Jets, Bills, Broncos, Panthers, Packers, Bucs, Bengals, Ravens, Raiders, and Skins were Top 10 in Receiving Defense last year.

.

Yards allowed does not equal defensive success in alot of cases, especially when it comes to pass yds allowed. If your a team that cant stop the run at all, teams will not pass as much. Likewise if your a team that gets out to good leads early, your opponents will throw more, which will usually mean more yds allowed passing. Of the top-10 in passing yds allowed on that list, only 4 made the playoffs, and one of those barely made it.

This is not Madden. You're lucky to have one pro bowl caliber corner on your team. Our top 3 corners are comparable to about any team in football, and nobody has a 4th corner who is good enough to be a starter, because guess what? If they did, that guy would've gone to greener pastures already.

Really interesting how so few have any real knowledge of the NFL.

Lord Toranaga is not amused with Anjinsan.

I can't name 1 team with four good corners ...

Basically, the Jets are picked by most of America to have the best corners in the NFL. So lets match them up to our corners ...

1. Revis
2. Jenkins
3. Newman
4.Cromartie
5.Scandrick
6.Wilson

Who's left for 7-8? Neither team knows and neither time is that concerned. Basically, if you made the NFL you're pretty capable of being a 4th corner. That doesn't mean a star, but it does mean you can probably matchup against a teams 4th WR. Just like if you make the NBA they're pretty good odds you can be the 10th-12th player on a roster.

Seriously, I am curious for OP to name one team in NFL that hs 3 good corners, let alone 4? It would be really entertaining to see the definition of good corner if so.

I think the Cowboys have 3 good CB. Jenkins,Newman and Scandrick. :)

I see a real weakness in the secondary specifically with the CB situation. Jenkins is a stud and Scandrick is solid. Newman has been on the decline the last 2 years but hopefully he'll bounce back. Other than those 3, there's Marquis Floyd, Cletis Gordon and Jamar Wall. That's upsetting to the stomach. If there's a veteran need anywhere on the team, this need has to be just as important.

I agree, before the draft I thought we had needs at Saftey, CB, OL, MLB, WR. we could only answer so many positions. but with that said there aren't that many teams that are 4 deep at CB. its rare. some teams still trying to find that 2nd CB. the biggest challenge is keepign Newmann healthy.

Newman managed to play all 16 reg season games and 2 playoffs games. In 7 seasons he has played the entire season 5 times. Not bad for any player in the league.

I can't agree with the OP...cb was a position of strength last year, and we have all 3 starters returning. We also brought in more young cbs to compete, and whomever becomes the long-term answer at FS (AOA, Allan Ball, or someone else), that leaves another quality cb or two.

We're as stacked at this position as any team in the NFL.

I said good CB not great or Pro Bowl caliber. The backups have no experience. We lose even 1 of the top 3 and teams will exploit the weakness. NFL defensive coaches are pretty smart.

I think what everyone is saying is that this is true for pretty much every team in the league.

I think we should pick up a vet late in training camp to provide some veteran depth.

Jesus, I'm beginning to wonder how the hell we won a game last year. Apparently our roster is atrocious!
The worst in the league, evidently.

So a guy not on a roster is the answer?:laugh2:

Seriously, it's time to walk away.

I'd still like you to name one...just humor me.

The Cowboys have 3 corners who are capable of starting, one of them is a stud and another might be declining but has shut down some of the best receivers in the game at times.

No team has that luxury.
