Costa

So now the Ravens suck?

The Parnell's penalty was a bad call but the tackles did have some issues.

At the same time they allowed only 1 sack and gave Romo a clean pocket but also averaged over 6 YPC and that was with their 3rd back in for half of the game.

I will not disagree that you can make a complete evaluation based on one game but you cannot evaluate the Ravens off of one game either. It seems to me that you want to look at their performance against the Chiefs and ignore their work against NE or Philadelphia. Just like you want to ignore how they did against a very good Bears front.

We dominated the LOS. That means something to me.

And the best of the best 'analysis' is just a nonsense generalization. Can Our interior OL block Ngata? Yeah they can. Now let's see how they do against Carolina.

Ravens are 26th against the run, does that sound good to you? Yes, the Ravens D sucks and not just because we ran over 220 yards against them. They're not the 26th ranked rush D because of one or two games.

Go rewatch the Detroit game from last year and the Bears game from this year and come back again.

I don't have to watch. Been there, done that. I am sure you was happy with with the line play. Raise your standards.

I don't care how bad the Ravens D is.

I am definitely happy that the OL showed up and pushed people around. There were tons of holes out there.

Costa had the best game of his career. The line played much better today. This is the only game that they played well this year. My concern is that Jerry will look at a game like this and think the problem is solved. It will happen with the fanbase as well. If Jerry does this, the line will go another year without adding some much-needed talent. All Jerry needs is an excuse to use more resources on the sexy positions.

When and if they can play like this week in and week out, it will make a big difference. In no way will I be happy with an average line. I want a line that is a strength instead of a liability.

Good post. You nailed it.

After today, the Ravens rush D is 26th in the league.

Sadly, Theebs is right, says more about Baltimore. Six pre snap penalties from the O line tells me they aren't there yet.

There were not 6 pre snap penalties on the OL. You mention holding in a subsequent post and that is not pre-snap. Overall, the line was significantly better and had been showing some improvement against Chicago. The Ravens certainly helped to make them look better but I'm not sure that was the whole story. I think that there may be real improvement. Hard to say for sure yet. I've said for a while now that if we can just get average (preferrably above average) play out of the OL, we can beat anyone in the league. I still believe that, but I also know that we often find ways to lose. Man, this loss is sticking with me. 3-2 would feel so much better than 2-3 right now. That loss was sickening :( .

Ngata had a knee sprain so those saying he was owned by Costa need to think again.

Costa played well- as was pointed out the best game of his career.

BUT the Ravens D line is made up of guys that use strength and power and that is right up his alley. Now when he comes up against quicker DTs it will be interesting to see.

No annointing oil yet.

And we still have those STUPID penalties!

That's it? Didn't they just give up two straight games of over 200 yards rushing and their only 26th? :laugh2:

our OL did great tonight.

costa was in.

maybe time is needed after all.

I thought the unit played outstanding both in run blocking and pass protection. It has been a while since I have seen a Cowboys OL play as this group did yesterday. As for Costa big kudos to him he came back into the lineup and played a very good game

i agree, the OL did better

but this was only 1 game

the key though is consistency, if we can consistently run the ball and give romo time to pass, i will be very happy

lets see how the OL performs next few games

I agree. I think consistency in a must I will say I think Callahan will get this group playing good ball. What can I say I have seen his work with OL before and I have confidence he will get the most out of this group of guys.

As fans that is all we really have is hope. I just think the longer this group is together the more they will start working as a unit. To me what makes an OL tick in not the individual it is the 5 men working as 1. Still things they need to clean up but yesterday was the 1st time in a while where I saw big time improvement. They picked up blitzes and stunts and I saw no confusion from them

The OL played a nice game, but ultimately, it didn't matter.

And KC ran at will against Baltimore so it's not like this is the stout Baltimore D of 5 years ago. Ray Lewis is finished, Ed Reed is getting old, and Terrell Suggs is injured.

What matters is that we saw the real flaws in the team, once again, and that flaw isn't really the OL. The flaw is the whole thing...the front office, the coaching, the penalties, the decision making. The patient is sick and the OL is just a symptom, not the illness.

Coming into the game, Baltimore's run defense had given up a lot of yards but for a pretty low average.....3.5 yds per carry against them which is one of the best in the league. Even against the Chiefs the YPC against was only a little over 4 ypc. We were well over 5 yds per carry.

As for Ngata, we were blowing them off the line even before he got hurt and sat out for a while.

The OL has got better. Basically they need to string some games together....everyone is already throwing Carolina out the window, so I guess we will have to wait for two weeks against the Giants, who's D-line seems to be back in shape after crushing the 49ers OL for 6 sacks.
