Giants head coach Tom Coughlin expressed his concerns to Mike Pereira, NFL's director of officiating, Monday morning regarding the Flozell Adams shoving incident in Sunday's game.

The NFL is reviewing what Dallas' Flozell Adams did to Justin Tuck just before halftime on Sunday. Tom Coughlin thinks the NFL should review its own rules, too.

After Adams shoved Tuck to the ground just after the whistle blew on the final play before intermission, the Cowboys' left tackle was assessed a 15-yard personal foul penalty. But because it occurred on the final play of a half, it was automatically declined, according to NFL rules.

That meant the Cowboys didn't lose 15 yards, even on the kickoff to open the second half. And since Adams - whom Tuck called "a dirtbag" and "a coward" after the game - wasn't ejected, his cheap-shot hit was essentially not penalized at all. "To not have some kind of immediate officiating response, there's something that needs to be addressed there," Coughlin said Monday. "There was no eviction, no penalty assessment, nothing."

Coughlin expressed his concerns to Mike Pereira, the NFL's director of officiating, Monday morning. Pereira had already reviewed the play, and according to a league spokesman the NFL is conducting a "routine" disciplinary review, too. Adams has already been hit with $25,000 in fines this year, including $12,500 for separate incidents against Tuck and Osi Umenyiora in the Giants' win in Dallas in Week 2.

It's possible Adams could face a suspension this time. The league is expected to inform the Cowboys of its decision on that this afternoon.
Asked if he wanted Adams to be suspended, Coughlin said, "Well, that's not for me to decide. I think there's no place in our game for the act that he took."

There was an immediate response, though. Unfortunately due to NFL rules the penalty didn't carry over. Not sure what te deal is here.

That being said, Flozell is making it hard to justify keeping him around.

I hope this isn't my homerism coming through, but what Flo did, was it that bad that deserves a suspension? He shoved someone. This is football. I've seen ALOT dirtier stuff than that, not warrant a suspension.

It was bush league, I'll give you that, but I don't think there was an intent to hurt a guy, or end his season. I've recieved worse pushes than that in mosh pits at Marilyn Manson concerts.

I dunno, maybe I'm just a homer, but I think alot of this is getting blown out of proportion like Flo dived at his knees or something.

I agree. It's not like Flozell threw him down and put him in the figure-4 leg lock.

Shut up Coughlin you tool, it was your guys that started the skuffle. They could have just let it go and let Flo get the 15 yarder but your thugs wanted to get into it and so at least 8 of them run up and start shoving him and such. So sure go ahead and susspend flo and susspend at least 4 of those Giants with him.

I hope the NFL does not give him a game suspension he should be hit with a fine for his actions. I like Flo but there was no reason for his actions.

There is no place for what he did in pro football, but that alone isn't the problem. It's a pattern of behavior he was already warned about by the league office earlier this season.

Flozell will be suspended. If Cowboys management had any balls they'd do it themselves.

Lot of pressure building for the NFL to suspend Flo'. Will the league keep it in some perspective by giving Flo' a fair punishment, such as a fine? Or will he get suspended? He does not deserve a suspension for a shove. Tuck and Tom C should not blow this out of proportion. Flo' stoned Osi in the first game and did a fine job this past week. No wonder folks want him suspended.

It was just a shove, but, the problem for others is that it happened "after" a play, which, I don't get either. Just look at what happens "after " a ST's tackle and such. Dudes are pushing each other from everywhere. But, it is what it is. There is no homerism there. Just a whiny little diaper rashed coach wanting to whine about something aka Coughlin.

I have no problem with what Flo did. 15 yrds on a kickoff with a kicker who nails the ball anyhow I don't sweat that much. What I do sweat is being in the redzone and having a false start though. Or a hold. That gets me more. Flo hates the Giants, just as I do and god love him for that. And, even with all the mishaps this guy has done. I am gonna miss him when he is gone. Just like most of you will, whining that they all of a sudden REALLY can't protect the QB now. Dallas hasn't hit gold on a LT since drafting Flo. Ya really think that is gonna happen again? They have tried and tried to find a replacement. No luck.

The NFL should just tell diaper rash boy to shut the hell up. And be thankful there was a non HOLDING call on Big Dumb Stupids TD run as well as the non PI call that involved Williams on 3rd down in the 2nd qtr.

I've seen Vince Wilfork deliberately poke a player in the eyes...in fact it was a Giants player. I've seen O-Linemen leg whip players, which ended Karl Mecklenberg's career, on purpose. I saw Shaun Rogers violently horse collar Carson Palmer, TWO WEEKS AGO.

If they don't like it, petition the league to change the rule and assess the penalty on the first play of the 2nd half. But to suspend Adams for a shove would be utterly ridiculous.

You have an avatar of what looks to be Hershcel Walker, yet you type this garbage.

Meaning? HALF of the ball players that played when he played couldn't even play in this league. Yet you type that garbage of "no place in football"..

It's not like Flo took his helmet off and belted Tuck like McSorley did in hockey against Brashear using his hockey stick. Gimme a break.

Ok, let's say the NFL suspends him. We all know he will appeal. Does that hold up the suspension until the appeal process has completed?

I believe he will get a 1 game suspension. Not necessarily for what he did, but the fact that the fines this season are mounting. Kind of like when Roy Williams got suspended. It wasn't for one tackle, it was for multiple fouls.

I agree. My hope of course is the league fines him and gives him one last warning

Me too, but we are the Cowboys, penalties come down rougher. See Wade Wilson and Bill Belichick for example.

I thought Roy got suspended for multiple horse collars.

In my own homerish opinion, since this was a shoving incident, the previous tripping penalties should not factor in. :D
