Could a player like Zeke be used for elite pass rush?

That play was going to be like any other desperation play you see at the end of a half or game. It was going to be a throw to a receiver and then turn into a lateral fest. Better to have Zeke in there than an offensive lineman.

Lol, until he gets pummeled into the ground after the snap. Last I heard, he was still scrapping himself off the grass in cali. It was a poor design imo.

I suspect the words "elite" and "burst" are words that will aptly be used to describe one of the RBs from the upcoming draft. Sadly, Zeke was fit to be described accurately at a past point in time but doesn't inspire such language so much anymore. I'm hoping to see a power RB from the draft come forth and perhaps someone like Malik Davis to complement him and being accompanied on passing downs another sleek speedster of a WR, as well. Let's hope that'd top off our offense somewhat effectively, assuming the OL gets stabilized, also.

I often wondered if someone like Zeke who has slowed but still explosive could be used as an elite occasional pass rusher? Would that RB burst and speed be used on the defense as an occasional special pass rusher?

Wondering if Parsons could be used on offense got me thinking about it. I only ever played DT in high school and was never really taught how to be elite at the role. I guess my coaches were not that great even though we did get to a championship my senior year and lose it.I was taught mostly just slants and try and get under or around blockers using my hands to rip at their jersey, so my knowledge of RB and what they could bring to a defense is even more limited.

What if old RB’s could get a second life as pass rushers? Small and quick could probably burst past some blocking?

Sure. But no point in throwing a Hail Mary unless you can reach the end zone with the throw. If Schultz is paying attention and gets his feet down the play before a Hail Mary would have been the call.

If you want to think outside the box why not see if Zeke can throw the ball?

He's not that far off. If he'd asked about Zeke maybe being sort of a linebacker in certain roles, it'd make more sense. He has some pursuit against defenders when they intercept the ball. We got to see that many times this year after Dak coughed it up.
