Could Dak be hurting himself in the gym?

He has a good arm. The issue is his footwork and throwing mechanics are compromised when he is under heavy pressure - moreso than most other QBs. I saw a stat that indicated he is one of the five most productive QBs when pressured less than 40% of the time and one of if not the worst QB when pressured more than 40% of the time. I wonder how much he can improve on that with experience.

You are correct. Typically velocity is not affected but accuracy is because as muscles grow larger, they lose flexibility. Throwing a football requires flexibility. Most quarterbacks focus on their lower bodies and core with medium weights. They will hit shoulders, arms, etc to stay conditioned but too large of shoulders and biceps limits the throwing motion.

Most quarterbacks have dad bod. One reason being, they thicken up to take hits but also their weight lifting regimen is not often filled with a lot of low weight, high reps and doesn’t help them get cut.

Nope, and his regiment is unreal. Dude doesnt eat tomatoes because they are a nightshade and have inflammatory properties. That should tell anyone how far he goes to keep the machine running.

Damn, I hate hearing that nightshade stuff. Must have tomatos & sauce.

There is no zip on his passes, and they look like wounded ducks. He doesn't have a good arm.

I have it on good authority the players train on their own, or with trainers they hired themselves.

The cowboys are ran like the Wild West, and the culture just doesn’t work anymore.

Its not just a Cowboy thing. According to what I have read, under the new CBA teams are not allowed to work with the players during the off season. They are only allowed to give each player a list of suggestions that need to be worked on. The player has to take it upon himself to hire his own people to do what the team or player wants to work on, and players are not allowed to hire members of their own coaching staff as trainers, position coaches, etc. etc. Any team found to be working with their players outside of the approved dates can face fines and loss of draft picks.

Not last year. He was pretty darn accurate. This year he wasn't. I think the OP is trying to find the cause. Go back and watch the first game of the season and then any of the games from last year. He lost his accuracy somehow from year 1 to 2. If I were the Cowboys I'd at least consider his off season work out as a potential cause along with other things.

Mehhhh I was thinking about this exact same topic the other day. It could affect his throwing a little bit but looking at last season this is the least of his worries. Someone really should be working with Dak on throwing timing routes because the way he stands in the pocket waiting for players to get open is wayyyy too long. That was one of the problems Dallas had against Atlanta. Their defense is so fast you have to get rid of the ball quicker and know where its going. Thats on the coaching staff. If you watched the Eagles they made adjustments at half time. The RB would come from the side of Foles so he didnt need to turn his head and that way he could keep his eyes on the field and decide to hand it off or throw the quick slant. They ran that play to death and it kept working. Thats what coaching will do for you! Very simple but effective adjustment that won the game for the Eagles.

Dak isnt buff though, he's a thick dude with a solid build. Besides if they plan on using his running ability he needs to be strong enough to take on the hits.

I think people think of that Brady Quin dude and think every qb with a solid build can't play lol.
Dak has the perfect build to be fat when he gets older, just like McNabb!

read his scouting reports. they detail what you have seen this year. If fixing accuracy problems was easy, then why isn't every QB's from college instant "elite". How do you fix pressure issues?
like I said his issues have been pin pointed on his scouting reports.

That is a short sighted and uninformed opinion.

Because it disagrees with yours? If you want to overlooks Dak's inability to get the ball downfield so be it, that's a you problem. But if you break down his mechanics, his footwork, how accurate he is (ball placement), all of these issues existed in college and why he was drafted in the late 4th round. Why do you think he was not the immediate backup to Romo when he was drafted? He didn't beat Moore out as the #2 QB, he had to wait till both QB's were injured before getting his shot. Overall Dak is an average QB, but his passing ability is sub par. Put any average QB behind that 2016 OL and rushing leader and see if they don't look better. Dak can not run an air coryell system, that is not who he is as of today.

But I am very thankful we became the dominant run 1st team that makes an average qb look really good.

Not because I disagree. Because you did not provide anything to backup what you are saying and still have not. What specifically about his mechanics that you know with any certainty where weight lifting has limited his range of motion or is making matters worse for any of the other deficiencies you pointed out? Try to reply with something based on facts.
