News to me......sounds like he's still in evaluation mode

Anthony Hitchens - LB - Cowboys
Cowboys MLB Anthony Hitchens is undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his injured right knee.

Per ESPN's Todd Archer, the operation is to "check the state" of Hitchens' ACL. ACL damage was initially ruled out. Hitchens is dealing with a "tibial plateau fracture." It sounds like the news could get worse. A 2017 return is beginning to look like a stretch.

Well, that sucks. I thought we were looking at 5 games. Could be a big loss. The guy was having a nice camp.

They're evaluating the cartilage, and will check out other structures while there.

He may have sustained a bit of meniscus damage, and they want to make sure that there's no sign of tibial osteochondritis.

The OP is jumping the gun on gloom & doom; if there is minor debridement needed, recovery from that is only 2-4 wks.

No reason at this time to change the 8 week estimate.

Doc is the man!
He's our Dr Chao. The guy who makes statements about others health and prognosis without seeing the patient.
Love the Doc, but he does what many of us complain about with that other guy.

The thing you need to remember about writers is that they live off of open ended maybes,,, that's how they milk every story and stir up the masses all at the same time.

Well since I'm not a Doctor, I have free reign to diagnose patients without seeing them.

Leave that examining the patient stuff for Doctors.

You should say that to him, not me. But I'm not going to argue over trivial things as such.

He'll be out when they need him the most; therefore, being out longer is not that big of a deal to me.

The Cowboys plan has been to ease Jaylon into playing with limited snaps at the beginning of the season. Now they'll have to rely on Durant or pick up a LB after cuts unless Wilson is an option to play some snaps at MLB.

If he didn't have the fancy named break, they wouldn't be doing this. The MRI showed no structural damage, but since he's on the shelf anyway, they are doing an exploratory scope to be certain and guide the appropriate rehab.

That's how I read it. MRIs aren't foolproof, and he's got a problem that needs healing, so let's check it out completely.

Not really, I don't recall seeing him ever give a prognosis on any player. He gives a general idea, and he has stated before he can't give a prognosis on someone he has never seen. Doc to my knowledge is nothing, like that DB from SD. Not even close

Doc qualifies his remarks. IOW, if this is the case then this is the prognosis.

Chao OTOH, makes declaratives like "he will never play again" and the like.
