Could RB Jaydon Blue be Tony Pollard 2.0?

I do not want anoťher Pollard ...... i want a real starting RB ......

I hope the kid is it ........ but I doubt it
I have a list of "must read" people on CZ. Its taped on my desk. After this beauty, I had to add you!!!! How the heck did I miss you previously? Folks, lets not let ZRINKILL get mad. Please note the last 4 letters of his screen name!

Blue needs to Gain 15 to 20lbs of muscle, Learn to keep a hold of the ball & pass block before he could be Pollard 2.0. Remember Pollard was a 1 trick pony at 200 lbs and work himsself in to a 215 RB that could pass block and do it all.

i expect a lot of gadget plays for Blue in 1st couple of years and hopefully he puts in the work in the training room and film room to transform, like pollard did.
Actually Pollard was already 212 pounds coming out Memphis state per his NFL draft profile.

And he was already showing surprising lower body tackle breaking ability even his rookie year.

Weight wasn't an issue pass blocking. Just like a number of rbs, it was an anchor and technique issue until he improved in that area.

Look these stories get blown out the longer and longer they get away from a guys rookie year he was barely 6 foot some people have them listed at 6 foot some just under some of them listed at 208 some 210...

You're going to try to tell me if 5'9 200 that the body build at just under six foot and 210 is different? I'd say common sense says if you take two and a half inches off of one player, he's shorter and he's 200 pounds it's going to be about the same body build as the player who's taller and a little bit heavier in weight...

it's like almost exactly the same... I mean when you look at Emmett Smith was 5 foot 9 215 who knows we gained weight later in his career but he wasn't huge he was almost a perfect size running back, so we're talking about Jayden Blue only being 15 pounds difference from ES22 but the exact size as Jamyr Gibbs with the same speed and people are acting like he's some gadget player???

no, this isn't Vaugn or lucky or Jet we're talking about he's going to be more than just a third down guy who catches more than he runs in a way he is Tony Pollard before the injury, and everyone keeps acting like Tony Pollard now grew three inches and fifteen pounds and shoot fireballs out of his ****..LOL.

So that is where the comps are coming from they're about the same size when you look at the body type that you would see from their frame and I'm not sure how fast Tony was as a rookie but Jayden Blues blazing fast so almost the same size maybe faster this is why we're using that as a nfl comp and there's nothing wrong with it except for anybody trying to discount what Jayden Blue can do..

So yes we're going to need a dirty yards guy someone to get short yardage pound it up the middle a lot but Jay Boo is going to be able to be in the mix on an even level if they do use him right he can run between the tackles he can run outside the tackles but he's just not a guy you want to pound too much neither is Tony, tony lost a lot because they used him more the more they used him up the more they wanted him to use as a regular running back he became less effective at breaking big runs..

As long as they strike balance and don't overuse this guy, I see a lot of the same from him as we got from Tony before the injury.....

I also find it a little entertaining where somebody in some of these posts said that Jayden Blue wasn't projected to go into 3rd round anywhere that he saw and mocked ,well a mock draft isn't the bible, but how about this I found this on his combine page,

His projection was the third round he's a third round prospect in any other draft in my opinion but this draft was so deep at running back that he slipped down no big deal but in my opinion it's a steal right his projection was 3rd round maybe 4th we got him in the 5th round we got Tony powered into 4th round we're tall talking about he's very similar they are this is a good thing for the Cowboys but nobody wants it to be a good thing they're going to find something wrong with it..

am i wrong in feeling like the fumble issues are overblown?

he had four. obviously you’d prefer none, and that number is intensified by the minimal carries, but i just don’t think you really extrapolate it, personally
He fumbled 8 times in 214 carries at Texas. That's a turnover every 26 carries. He also dropped 5 passes in 2024. I'd imagine Dallas will use him much like Texas did and that he's not going to be a high volume back. His contact balance is poor so Texas ran him outside zone 52% of his carries and rarely ran him through the gaps. Where he thrived was making people miss. I think he was #1 in missed tackles last season. He also averaged 15 routes a game at UT. That's a lot for a back and he's a good route runner. I think Blue adds more to the passing game than the running game and could be a dangerous screen player if Dakota doesn't throw it at his shoe strings.
