If you can't pass on a secondary that has Terence Newman, Adam Jones, Mike Jenkins, Orlando Scandrick, Ken Hamlin, and Roy Williams.... with fmr head coach and defensive coordinator Dave Campo coaching them.

and you can't run on a 6th ranked rush defense (with akin ayodele), after they've added Pro Bowl, HOF leading tackler Zach Thomas, with fmr defensive coordinator coaching the defensive line. And the Arkansas defensive coordinator/Texans linebacker coach is coaching our linebackers...

how do you score? Special Teams? I really dont know.

Quick question, why did we get two coaches who were under Dom Capers, yet we kept Stewart... that was a mistake...

If the defense doesn't play well this year, then Capers will probably arrive at Valley Ranch sometime in January to be Jason's defensive coordinator.

Capers has that strange ability to turn mediocre to good defenses into terrible defenses. Personally I'd rather completely scrap the 3-4 defense than have Capers as the coordinator.

I'd take Mike Zimmer over Dom Capers. I just can't understand the ongoing infatuation with this guy.

The parts in bold are big IFs. I like your optimism, but until the Cowboys defense proves to be invincible on the field, we just don't know that those things are true. I like our chances with what we've go, though.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention pass rush. As good as Greg Ellis and DeMarcus Ware were last season, there were too many times the opposing QB had all year to pick a receiver. That has to change.

Me too...I'm still not really a fan of it.

Because he coached the Panthers back when their defense was any good and also was DC for the Steelers back in the early 90's. I believe that his success was the result of good players, not necessarily good coaching.

Lets give this season a chance then we can see what to do about coaching changes etc. when it is over.

Exactly, everything looks great on paper right now but the proof will be displayed on the field... I sure hope with the amount of money on that side of the ball they finish with a top 5 defense at least, IF not number 1!

To me, both offense and defense were excellent units overall last year--the problem was consistency. The level of play variedy wildly at times, looking like champs one week and chumps the next. All three regular season losses came when one unit just didn't show up. And neither the offense or defense has shown consistency to step up in crunch time in big games. Offense, defense, and special teams all had opportunities to put the Giants away in the playoffs, and all three fell short. Some of this is due to the fact that the Cowboys are still a relatively young team in terms of the main stage. They hadn't had enough big game/playoff experience yet. Hopefully, this is the year that experience starts to pay dividends.

We are doomed!

Packy will take TO and Romo to a make it rain party, and Tank will shoot the bouncer. Terry Glenn will just go ahead and rob Jerruh at gunpoint, (it seems simplet to me than the way he goes about robbing Jerruh right now) and Witten will come out of the closet.

Zach Thomas will go to church with Roy and be saved, and we will have two starters on defense that refuse to hit people hard.

DWare will become disgruntled because Spencer is getting more snaps in practice than him and suddenly get hurt and sit out four games, whileEllis finally gets committed to the psych hospital.

Wade goes 14-2 and decides that is good enough and sends the team home for the playoffs.

Skip Bayless expresses his she-man love for Patrick Crayton and declares the Cowboys the best NFL team ever.

All of that sounds good but they need to do it when it counts, when the lights come on!

Teams will attack with the short pass if they can't go deep or run. There is always a way to attack.
