Could the Commanders know something?

It really seems the Commanders have been desperate in trying to trade for Chad Johnson and Anquan Boldin. They really tried to overpay for both players.

Now, we all know that it's not past Junior to overpay for players. But even after being rebuffed for CJ, there are reports saying that they'll continue to try to land him.

That seems pretty desperate.

Know....is that because they want a WR and don't see one in the draft that interests them (very likely)?

or

Could they have known about the Jones deal? Could they be worrying about us acquiring him, drafting a guy like Cason, and pairing them with Newman and Henry? This would make our pass D very formidable and they really don't have the weapons to match us.

and one other thing to consider.....

We've heard the Skins made an offer for Chad Johnson. We head about them making a trade offer for Anquan Boldin.

But we haven't heard about them making an offer for Roy Williams. Can we read into this? Can they assume that we're the only serious destination choice? Do they know that Detroit will NOT part with him? Could part of their desperation for a WR be attributed to us POSSIBLY getting Roy Williams and them wanting to keep pace?

Just some thoughts.

And sorry if this has been talked about already.....if it has, then feel free to move the post.

I think the Commanders just plain aren't happy with their WRs - it doesn't have anything to do with Pacman. If I were them I would focus on the Dline and Oline, but whatever. And I don't think a team would trade for a WR just to "keep up" but who knows what snyder and cerrato are thinking.

even though we make fun of Snyder, there is nothing wrong w/ trying to keep up w/ teams making huge moves, both us and Philly have acquired some good corners

Pac Man was really a secondary thought with me. I did a poor job in wording my post.

I'm just wondering why the Skins haven't made a play for Roy Williams. Of all the WRs reportedly available, he's the best one.

Could they know something? Could the Skins know that there's no way Millen will trade Roy?

or

Do they simply not like RW?

or

Could there possibly be something in place?

Of course I'm hoping there's something in place with us.....just a thought.

No, they just want a bigger veteran WR to give some help to Campbell. They are going to a new west coast offense and can't trust a rookie WR in that system this year. With the Pacman deal official, it wouldn't surprise me if they upped their offers to three 1st round picks.

God couldn't even help campbell. the guy is terrible!!!!!!

I would tend to think the Commanders know nothing.

I think they have been pursuing Roy. There was a story on an Eagles site that the Skins, Eagles, and Cowboys were all going after him. I'm not sure why we seem to have Chad Johnson as our number one choice of the three WRs, I would rather have either of the other two.

Maybe the boys and lions already had a deal on the table and millen is just sticking to his word to jerry....well probably not but just an idea.:laugh1:

In all seriousness, you can't blame the Skins for trying to upgrade their WR corp. It has nothing to do with Samuel, or Pacman or Newman or anyone else.

The Skins have gotten very little bang for their buck at WR. Moss has had one good season, Randal El has been a joke and toward the end of the season they were signing guys like McCardell. Battle obviously was a catastrophe and who else did they have? Thrash?

I don't blame them a bit for trying to upgrade. Poor scouting is what did them in as far as WR. Not a single WR they have traded for/signed has even sniffed the level of success that the Skins had hoped for (sans the 1st season for Moss). It's a huge weakness in a very tough division. Can't fault em for trying to do something about it.

I do admit that I love watching them continue to screw it up, though.

Yep. I think you are right and I think amongst the organizations its the worst kept secret. THAT is why Danny is panicking.

That's what makes me wonder......

Why not Roy Williams? He's bigger, and faster than CJ.

If there's any hangup it could be the fact he WANTS to be a Cowboy. Any team that trades for him would have to renegotiate a deal. If the Skins don't feel they could do it, then that COULD be a reason for them to not pursue RW.

Just throwing biscuits against the wall here.

The little general is trying to keep up with the Jones'.

He hates being upstaged and just wants to make it rain in DC.

I really can't believe what they are willing to give up for chad. I really like him but that is too much for a player of his age. But really the skins don't know much.
