Could the Commanders know something?

It really seems the Commanders have been desperate in trying to trade for Chad Johnson and Anquan Boldin. They really tried to overpay for both players.

Now, we all know that it's not past Junior to overpay for players. But even after being rebuffed for CJ, there are reports saying that they'll continue to try to land him.

That seems pretty desperate.

Know....is that because they want a WR and don't see one in the draft that interests them (very likely)?

or

Could they have known about the Jones deal? Could they be worrying about us acquiring him, drafting a guy like Cason, and pairing them with Newman and Henry? This would make our pass D very formidable and they really don't have the weapons to match us.

and one other thing to consider.....

We've heard the Skins made an offer for Chad Johnson. We head about them making a trade offer for Anquan Boldin.

But we haven't heard about them making an offer for Roy Williams. Can we read into this? Can they assume that we're the only serious destination choice? Do they know that Detroit will NOT part with him? Could part of their desperation for a WR be attributed to us POSSIBLY getting Roy Williams and them wanting to keep pace?

Just some thoughts.

And sorry if this has been talked about already.....if it has, then feel free to move the post.

Part of the reason for interest in Boldin and C Johnson is both have good contracts and the Skins have cap issues. For Roy Williams, he is only signed one more year and they would then have to worry about fitting him into the 2009 cap year. They may also not be in a position to put the franchise tag on him given how close they are to the cap. Since he wants to come back to Texas, he may not do them any favours during contract extension talks knowing he holds the upper hand.

Lil' Danny might not be the brightest burning candle in the novelty store... but when he did the math (Jason Campbell throwing into coverage of Newman, PacMan, Flowers [possibly] and Henry) he clearly panicked.

Forrest Gump (Campbell) is going to have a hard enough time throwing into any average secondary, so it is imperative to have WR's who can go after poorly thrown balls. :)

We've got them surrounded. They know that. Believe it.

fixed:)

:laugh2: I can do a great impersonation of him

Maybe they have talked to Detriot and if it is true that RWilliams is a Cowboy fan, no self respecting Cowboy fan would ever sign with the Commanders. :laugh2:

thats pretty funny

the similarities are uncanny

quiet, can run, but chooses not to, went through 3 offensive systems in college, and never played in consecutive offensive systems in his beginning years as a pro, horrible mid-range accuracy, not to mention both are black and wear #17

So how many draft picks is danny willing to surrender?

Ya they are pretty close. I hope they suffer the same fate we did with him.

You are correct, of course.

As far as the similarities... you forgot that in both cases, nobody in the huddle could understand a single thing they're saying and that their removal from the starting lineup precipitated wins at a frightening pace. :)
