Could Ware and Jared Allen both break the NFL sack record this season?

DeMarcus Ware and Jared Allen have 12 and 12.5 sacks, respectively.

Clearly, with the season not even halfway through yet, both are on pace to surpass Michael Strahan's 22.5 sack record.

So maybe we could end up seing a Sammy Sosa vs. Mark McGuire kind of race between two players in the NFL this year, both gunning for an NFL seasonal record, and both on pace to potentially break it?

Ware is on pace for more sacks, he's done it in 7 games while, Allen has done it in 8 games.

Ah, good point. thanks.

one of them will break the record. even though both teams are not playing well these two guys are unbelievable

I believe Ware is going to break it. I am not really concerning myself to much with Allen, if he does he does, but I do believe Ware has a great shot to break this record.

There is a VERY good chance Ware breaks the record. Look at the remaining schedule:

Seattle: ranked 32 of 32 in the league in sacks given up (28)
Buffalo: ranked 2 of 32 in the league in sacks given up (9)
Washington: ranked 25 of 32 in the league in sacks given up (22)
Miami: ranked 31 of 32 in the league in sacks given up (27)
Arizona: ranked 28 of 32 in the league in sacks given up (24)
NY Giants: ranked 13 of 32 in the league in sacks given up (15)
Tampa Bay: ranked 5 of 32 in the league in sacks given up (10)
Philadelphia: ranked 7 of 32 in the league in sacks given up (13) <- Had 4 sacks against them
NY Giants: ranked 13 of 32 in the league in sacks given up (15)

I'm sure Ware can find 11 sacks in their somewhere.

I"d rather Ware get consistant pressure on EVERY play than get 4sacks/game and a season sack record.

That's simply not going to happen...I don't care who you are.

Allen is on fire. Every time I check the Minny box score he has 2-3 sacks. Ware could crack 20 on Thanksgiving if he gets 5 in the next 3 games vs. Sea, Buff and Washington.

I just think it's amazing the guy might reach 100 sacks in 7 seasons.

And he's done it with no complimentary pass rusher on the other side.

the real NFL is different from you mom's basement Madden NFL

Maybe it's just me, but I don't really care about the player's individual achievements, relative to the team as a whole.

What the sacks really show is that we've frittered away a huge chunk of the career of one of the three or four best defensive players the Cowboys have ever had.

Sure, and I'd rather see Romo complete ALL of his passes (100%) in a game for no touchdowns, instead of only completing, say, 65% of passes for two touchdowns.

Isn't make-believe imaginary football great?

Maybe you guys should back off a bit. I get what he was saying. He'd rather Ware make an impact with pressure than get some sack record. I agree with him. Ware had 4 sacks last night... does that really matter? No. Not saying Ware didn't play his heart out, but early on he was sometimes a non factor going one on one with Peters.

Maybe you should get a reality check and realize that no one player is going to get pressure on every single play. It takes more than ONE defensive player to get pressure on a qb so laying it all on Ware is unfair. No one was getting pressure last night.

Ware is on a slightly better pace then Allen. Both are racking up sacks.
