Could you redo Trey Lance's contract right now?

The Packers didn't use the 5th year option of $20.272 million on Jordan Love, instead they agreed to a one year extension that paid him $13.5 million that has incentives that reach $22.5 million.

The timing of Lance's contract doesn't really work well with the timing of Dak's contract. We won't know if we have anything in Lance before we need to do something.

So, could his contract be redone right now? If not now, how soon?

I feel like you might be able sign him now as reasonable as it will ever be. And it would give you the time to develop him.

I know very little about how the contracts work. But I'd sure feel better if we had him locked up for 3 or 4 years.
Don't overthink this. I know...other people are challenging you to really dig deep.

Don;t let them troll you.

We signed a 3rd string QB. What's the problem? Let it roll.

Everything is set up perfectly with both contracts. We have Lance for another 3 years if we want him under his rookie deal. Thats probably how much time he would need to be good enough to challenge Dak.

So we extend Dak for 2 or 3 more years and see what happens.

Rush is signed as the #2 through next season. Thats about the time Lance could challenge him.

Its all perfect contact wise.

Why? We will cut him in two years anyway because he can’t play.
He definitely hasn’t shown any sign that he can…….But, if he can one day play at a high level, this will be a steal. I’m not seeing it but who knows?

You can extend lance but does that really benefit the boys? He's not extending for free, and likely wants starting money.

They are so cheap.

I'd go 4 years 260 million with 190 million guaranteed.....it won't effect the salary cap

I've read that here many times. Just do creative math and voila...done

The writing is on the wall. Daks had 7 years to get this team to the NFC Championship game and a SB. He blew it the last two years. He has one chance now.

Jerry will not pay him $260 million just to get the same results. That's why Lance is here. Next TC will be a QB competition.

He's not getting starting money when he's not a starter
Trey wants to start. The whole context of extending him now is to get him on a long term cheap deal so he is the starter in a year or 2. Trey isn't entertaining backup deals at this point in his career especially while he still has 2 years left on his rookie deal.

What would you consider a cheap long term deal?

QBs coming off their rookie contract never accept cheap long term deals. After their 4th year, they take cheap one year prove it deals.
