i dont know if any of you on this board has experienced a fractured rib but it is extremely painful. about the most painful thing next to a serious slipped disc in the back. it completely limits you, to the point you can barely breath without tears filling your eyes. if you want to criticize romo when he does bad then you also have to praise him when he plays like this...anyone who questions his heart or toughness are delusion:star:

i want to give romo a very gentle hug right now.

Last fall I fell 20 feet out of a tree stand and landed on frozen ground. Broke three ribs and thought I was gonna die. Couldn't breathe and couldn't sleep without medication for about ten days. About as much pain as one can understand. PS. I've broken other bones as well, but they were nothing as compared to ribs because it couldn't breathe and that's scary.

Now that his adrenalin has worn off, he's gonna be hurtin even worse. It wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't practice at all this week.

I would be surprised actually if he plays next week. If he does, it will be conservative game plan, unless game gets out of hand. I hope they take caution with it, since Detroit game is coming, with that beast up in the middle.

I have and you're absolutely correct, its extremely painful and the most pain I've ever felt before. I've been thru 2 knee surgeries also but the cracked rib is brutal. It took me to my knees just to sneeze. I'm sure Romo took a needle to ease the pain but he definitely still felt the pain. He's a warrior to play with that. My hat off to him..

But, but, but, Romo wears his hat sideways. And it wasn't a big game, it was just the 49ers.

I'll give it to him. Playing through that is very courageous and that shows that he has heart.

Broken ribs are no joke. I fell at work years ago and landed at an awkard angle on my ribs. Cracked one and thought I was going to freaking die. Couldn't breath and it scared the hell out of me. I don't think we can question Romo's toughness. He sure as hell isn't Jay Cutler after what we saw today. I was at the edge of the Romo band wagon after last week. I took a huge step back today. I feel good for him after the media beat down he took this week. Hope he can heal up quick.

I tip my hat to him today.

He WON!...and we really had to win. I'm just a fan of Romo......I hope he continues to succeed.

Poster on the 49ers forum...

Has Alex Smith ever accomplished what Romo did today, once in his entire career? Over 300 yards, no picks, putting the team on his back and pulling out a win?

Ok, so its not all on Alex, but part of you has to want a QB that can do that!?

Game ball to Tony Romo....

That was a great game from him and a must win game in the NFC.

I broke three ribs where they join my sternum three or four years ago when some idiot woman hit me on my motorcycle. VERY painful for about two plus weeks. I cannot imagine playing football in that much pain, but then again, I don't have the benefit of all those injections these guys get.

That was really gutty. Watching Romo walk across the field after the winning field goal, he looked in some serious pain. That's the kind of performance that wins lots, lots of respect in the locker room.

I wonder what the story is on him coming back in the game...did he just demand it, or did the medical staff take that long to clear him to play? It looked a little like he just said "F*** this, gimme my helmet, I'm going in."
