Courageous performance by Romo

Maybe not up there with Emmitt's heroics in the Meadowlands, but it's in the conversation. Nothing but money throws during the last drive in regulation. Monkey's off his back for at least one week.

i dont know if any of you on this board has experienced a fractured rib but it is extremely painful. about the most painful thing next to a serious slipped disc in the back. it completely limits you, to the point you can barely breath without tears filling your eyes. if you want to criticize romo when he does bad then you also have to praise him when he plays like this...anyone who questions his heart or toughness are delusion:star:

I'm thinking Romo went to the locker room and got a little dose of Favre if you know what I'm saying.

Romo deserves mad props for his work today. Don't think the "sissy" label will stick to him anytime soon, but........ sadly posters will forget about his performance today all too soon.

I think the guy is a great QB and our best chance to win day in and day out.

That's particularly well said... I couldn't agree more...

I thought it was one of the gutzyest (sp) performances I've ever seen. You can find fault of course with some of his place but you can't fault his toughness.

Poster on the 49ers forum...

Nice find... Its a shame that the fan base in general can't support our QB this way.

Obviously that was a gutsy performance, no question! What was amazing to me was some of the throws that he made. There were times when Romo put the ball in the only place that only the receiver could catch it with the DB or safety right there. Beautiful throws, a lot better than at the beginning of the game!

Agreed. That 4th down pass to Witten on the sideline was absolutely perfect.

Free got burned to and he made that under contact. Clutch.

That would be very hard to match.

Unless you're talking about the magnitude of the game, I disagree. Ask anyone who has separated a shoulder and broken a rib which is worse. He was in pain, taking a beating out there, and still throwing incredible passes. I was at that Emmitt game and his performace was great but, as far as toughness/heroics, Romo's performance doesn't take a back seat to Emmitt's at all. Also (not directed toward you bb), people tend to remember only Romo's mistakes. His past heroics are somehow forgotten. Does anyone remember the game against the Giants in '08? He was playing with a couple of injuries including a bad back. He had a hard time moving but totally outplayed Eli in a huge late-season game. That was a gutsy, clutch performance. The guy tried to come back with a broken bone in his throwing hand a week after he injured it. He wanted to go back in with a very painful/serious broken clavicle last year. He's tough and he wants to win badly. He's human and has made mistakes like EVERY QB who has ever played this game. He's done many more positive/impressive things than most QBs who've played in this league. We are beyond lucky to have him and I couldn't be happier for him and the team after yesterday's performance.

Has it been confirmed that his ribs are broken or is that just the initial guess from the medical staff without the tests?

I imagine they did some work on him in the locker room at halftime to confirm it.

If the fracture is bad enough, you are talking about possibly damaging a tendon or a lung - I doubt the medical staff would have let him back out there if it was that kind of fracture.

Leave it to Mike and Mike to talk about anything other than Romo's heroics yesterday. Still talking about turnovers.

**** ESPN.

Absolutely a gutsy performance and my hat is off to him. For anyone who honestly questions this guys toughness, heart, or desire to win I just don't know what you're looking at.

Big time props to Romo for Cowboying up and playing ball.

I would be surprised actually if he plays next week. If he does, it will be conservative game plan, unless game gets out of hand. I hope they take caution with it, since Detroit game is coming, with that beast up in the middle.

this is part of the problem from my perspective

we have not shown the ability to run the ball effectively at all so far, so a conservative game plan is going to be tough

if we want to protect our QB we will need to establish the run

so far we have not done that

IMO, felix is not a #1 RB, we need to run murray more and use felix as we were doing in previous years, on the edges

I think if this had been a game with playoff implications on the line, like Emmitt's was, .. I think Romo's performance would be right up there.

I disagree with this statement, .. I think this game and performance will change Romo's status in the NFL. I do.

If he can keep it going from here this will be viewed as the game that changed the perception of Romo throughout the NFL and the NFL media.

This game will not be forgotten for a long time, .. if ever.

I hope you're right. It has that potential.
