CowboysZone Mock Draft

Cincinnati is on the clock at #21

Vote how you think the team WILL draft (not how they should draft)

I'll provide at least 8 choices for each team (sorry if I don't include your favorite and you're welcome to email me suggestions prior to a team's choice)

I'll leave the option out there for at least 4 hours unless it is so unanimous that I can go on to the next team. When we move on, I'll make a post saying the counting for that draft slot has ended and what the verdict is

Results so far

1. St. Louis, SAM BRADFORD, QB, Oklahoma
2. Detroit, NDAMUKONG SUH, DT, Nebraska
3. Tampa Bay, GERALD McCoy, DT, Oklahoma
4. Washington, RUSSELL OKUNG, OT, OK. St.
5. Kansas City, BRYAN BULAGA, OT, Iowa
6. Seattle, ERIC BERRY, S, Tennessee
7. Cleveland, JIMMY CLAUSEN, QB, ND
8. Oakland, TRENT WILLIAMS, OT, Oklahoma
9. Buffalo, DEZ BRYANT, WR, Oklahoma St
10. Jacksonville, DERRICK MORGAN, DE, Ga Tech
11. Denver, ROLANDO McCLAIN, ILB, Alabama
12. Miami, DAN WILLIAMS, DT, Tennessee
13. San Francisco, JOE HADEN, CB, Florida
14. Seattle, CJ SPILLER, RB, Clemson
15. NY Giants, SEAN WEATHERSPOON, LB, Missouri
16. Tennessee, JASON PIERRE-PAUL, DE/OLB, USF
17. San Francisco, ANTHONY DAVIS, OT, Rutgers
18. Pittsburgh, MIKE IUPATI, G, Idaho
19. Atlanta, BRANDON GRAHAM, DE, Michigan
20. Houston, KYLE WILSON, CB, Boise St.
21. Cincinnati, ??????

ON THE CLOCK:
CINCINNATI
What will the Bengals do with Pick #21?
  • Earl Thomas, S, Texas
  • Sergio Kindle, DE/OLB, Texas
  • Maurice Pouncey, C/G, Idaho
  • Brian Price, DT, UCLA
  • Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma
  • Taylor Mays, S, USC
  • Jerry Hughes, OLB/DE, TCU
  • Demaryius Thomas, WR, Ga Tech
  • Golden Tate, WR, Notre Dame
  • Ryan Matthews, RB, Fresno St
  • Jared Oldrick, DT/DE, Penn St
  • Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland
  • Charles Brown, OT, USC
  • Carlos Dunlap, DE, Florida
  • Trade down ---must pick team and spot they trade with; you don't need to name a player b/c that will depend on who they trade with, so we come back to that after a tradea put the new team on the clock.
  • write-in votes accepted
Notes.
Assumed team needs: S, "pass rusher" LB, DE, DT, TE, WR, G

Defending AFC Central champs Cincy has one of the best young CB tandems in the NFL...so they are happy Wilson went Houston.
They have okay safties but could use help there. Thomas would help
They really need pass rush help. Kindle would be great
They could also use a TE. Everyone seems to have them taking Gresham
ALL of those choices are there, so they could easily trade down and help themselves.

The Cowboys have a relationship with Cincy and I think they would make a move for Thomas here (if he fell this far) and give them next years #3 to move up to #21.

so.....

Trade down with Dallas

and you all know who I think Dallas will pick...but that is for later. First we have to vote on the trade down, then Dallas will be on the clock.

Either Gresham or Best. Their offense definitely needs more play makers. Ill go with Gresham though since TE is more of a need than RB.

Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma.

They need help in the passing game. I'm not sold on Gresham, and think a WR here would be better value. The majority of the experts have them going Gresham. He just doesn't have enough speed for me, but I think they'll probably snag him.

Trade down with Dallas. Dallas gives CIN they're 1st rounder, their 4th rounder and a 4th next year.

JMO, but this is why I think they would trade down here if some how Thomas was available....they could most likely still get Gresham or maybe Kindle at #27 while getting hte extra pick(s). I guess Balt. may snag Gresham if this happened..so some risk there. Of course they may just go ahead and take Thomas anyway due to pure value...same with Kindle.
If Thomas slides to NE, I would say the same thing. NE has many of the guys they want still available so they may take a trade.

Go with Gresham

Edit: Scratch that. This is a spot where Dallas could move up to get Thomas. Swap firsts and Marty B.

Trades with dallas for a second this year and second and third next year
More recent trade charts have this costing 105 points, with this years 3rd being worth 132, so I said next year's third but maybe it would have to be this year's third. But not this year's and next years 2nd...that would be pricey.

Trade down with the Eagles. Eagles select ET. Andy Reid gets his guy.

Gresham at TE or I could see a trade with Dallas.
You probably need to choose..it's pretty close between the two options

2 hours in
Gresham = 4
Trade w/ Dallas = 3
Trade w/ Philly =1
E Thomas =1

Gresham has the talent, but one thing about him... I hear Pat Jones and others on OKC radio talking about rumors that his knee problem could be degenerative... Possible bone-on-bone situation in the future. Again, just a rumor, but apparently that's out there. If he falls on draft day, look for that to be the reason.

Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma. Value and need meet. The Bengals don't get cute.
