For one you can't replace everybody in 1 offseason. Too he would cost very little to keep and I would still go into the offseason looking to upgrade the position. You sign him vet min. and would be the best 4th corner in the league. If he stays healthy and produces great, if not it doesn't hurt us.
The problem is that if they re-sign Claiborne or Carr, then they won't sign a better CB in free agency.

If there is no possibility of signing a better CB in free agency, then re-sign Claiborne and Carr assuming the deals are very reasonable.

I would prefer to sign a guy like Trumaine Johnson and just move on from both Carr and Claiborne.
T.Johnson
Scandrick
A.Brown

Mo gets 3m base and 200k per game for total of 6.2m with a team option for same thing next year with 1m raise

I would still sign Claiborne even if we signed Johnson

Johnson will cost too much and isn't that much better than Carr or Claiborne. The cost has to match.

Obviously, a great deal hinges upon what the Cowboys will have to pony up to retain Claiborne. If they're able to retain him for a moderate cost, I'm pretty confident that they'll see fit to keep him for another year. Of course, there's a limit to what they'll be agreeable to spend to keep him in tow. If Mo is agreeable to keep his demands reasonably modest, I think it's entirely possible he'll be back for another season.

There's also a fair chance that someone like Anthony Brown will be afforded the opportunity to compete with Mo to claim a starter's role. If Mo is signed to a moderately sized contract, that would likely allow the staff to welcome him back, regardless of his role. If not, he'll probably be left free to sign with another team. The Cowboys aren't obliged to pay handsomely for someone who's unlikely to be available on a regular basis.

According to his own words, he wants to return to Dallas as a team he's comfortable with. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him return for another year in 2017. He might very well be best suited for backup duty rather than a starter, due to his durability issues. Anyhow, we'll see in due time.

Easier said than done. If he'll take vet's minimum, then it's a no brainer. But guess what? Don't expect any home town discounts.

This right here. Everyone wanting to move on I completely undertand. But that only creates another hole that needs filled. His deal won't be for much.

I agree.

I'd like to see them re-up with both Carr and Claiborne for one more year to buy themselves time to get Brown and a rookie corner up to speed. And I'd be looking to move on from Scandrick too. I don't like where he's trending either.

If Mo would agree to play on some sort of incentive laden pay-per-game contract (ala Greg Hardy) I'd be for it. Otherwise, he's too unreliable to give guaranteed money too; he's missed 41% of the possible games in his career.

I'd love to upgrade 3/4 of the secondary. But a better pass rush wouldn't make that necessary right away.

My biggest concern is that most of our FA sign elsewhere because they get deals bigger than we want to give them and we have too many holes to fill. Our defense could get a whole lot worse than it was this year. At least they were decent in the red zone and able to get off the field on third down at an average clip. If we regress in those areas we will have trouble making the playoffs.

Can't understand why anyone would want Tom bring him or Carr back. Neither can make a play on the ball. 4 years of those two is enough. Time to move on

Carr is a good locker room guy, dependable and he did a great job on softdell beckham.

What's the case for re-signing someone who YOU KNOW won't be available when you need him the most?

He had 7 INTs in 2015. He had a down year in 2016 in terms of INTs, but I'm not sure that Claiborne and Carr combined have ever had 7 INTs in a season.

He hasn't shown he can stay healthy. I highly doubt he is in a position to bargain
