Cowboys have 3 offensive linemen in the top 10.
Cowboys look like geniuses with the Travis Frederick pick. He is the top rated center.

Great stuff indeed. But lets remember that within the next two years two of those guys and the first round talent we secured last year are all going to need new contracts. We could have 4 lineman on our team getting 10-15 million per year in salary. No doubt a great problem to have. Can we keep them all? Is it prudent to pay all 4 guys like that? Witten certainly would have to come off the books by then.

4 lineman, Dez, Romo all getting top dollar. That is a lot on one side of the ball.

This team, especially the offense has a boatload of talent. If they remain healthy, it is essentially inexcusable if they don't put out a top 3-5 offense overall, this year.

The whole reason we're quiet in FA these days is so that we can sign our proven own. We'll keep the OL together. Though I wonder how we'll deal with Lawrence's contract when the time comes. He's going to be expensive, and still somewhat unproven.

I remember I caught so much flak for defending the Frederick pick. Everybody was listening to kiper saying he would be available in the 3rd. Those same people are quiet as mice now

I remember I was one of those people who hated the pick. I was livid about it.

Funny how fans think they know more than the scouts who do it for a living isn't it?

I hated the pick too.

I still think it was horrible value at the time but it worked out bigtime because they got that 5th year on the deal.

I hated his slow sluggish feet. I'm not a fan of OL with feet that looked as poor as his did at Wisconsin. Oh well. I'll take it.

I'll give them an excuse..

Predictable playcalling with coaches that give them no edge throughout the game or try to take advantage of all of the rules.

Dallas loooooves to make things more difficult than they need to be.

Dez Bryant is probably the best YAC receiver in the NFL and we can't get him the ball unless it's 25 yards downfield.

They need to win a Championship before this line breaks up!!!!

I agree. But they are also going to need a much improved defense if they are going to win a championship. Give me 3 pro bowlers on the Oline and One pro bowl pass rusher over 4 pro bowl Olineman.

Based on age, I believe we can keep them all. They all will be getting long-term contracts designed to be restructured to open up money to be spent on other needs. The expectation that they will be able to play for another eight to 10 years allows those restructures to be viable options because you don't want to add years to the contract of a player who is only going to be around for a few years.

There's some risk, of course, because an player can be injured at any time, but long-term deals for Frederick, Martin and Collins are as close to sure bets as the one Smith signed.

Best YAC receiver? Im not seeing that one. He might be one of the best at making something out of nothing or jump balls, but definitely not the best YAC receiver.

I have to agree that we will probably keep all 4 of them together. As long as Collins is as good as the rest of them. But if you told me today that I could trade Martin for the NFL MVP in Denver, I would do that in a heartbeat.

He may not have the quickest feet but he sets well and protects Romo up the middle in the pocket. He can also move well enough
to get to the second level and if he gets his hands on you, it's over. The whole line should be better this year.

Picks like Frederick are the reason I don't hate any pick. It might not be the player who I would have taken, but I'm just a fan with a computer and a bunch of draft guides, so what do I know?

There have been picks on here that fans lauded who turned out to be just awful and picks that fans hated who turned out to be great. Sometimes, it's the opposite and fans get it right or both the teams and fans get it right.

I just prefer to wait so I'm not one of those fans who "think they know more than the scouts."

Well, that's a little different. The value of having the top pass rusher is greater than the value of having the top guard.

If I thought paying Martin would prevent us from paying an equal talent at defensive end, then I wouldn't pay Martin. I don't think that is a choice that is necessary to make, though, because I can't see paying the linemen interfering with anything we want to do elsewhere because of the long-term nature of those deals.

The Lawrence one could be sticky on a couple of fronts - he did have back surgery (and there's no guarantees about how that holds up long terms as a DL) and he is deep into the substance abuse program as he will be serving a suspension.

We had already traded from our pick to the bottom of the 1st. We couldn't take the chance of getting him in the 2nd with the way that olinemen were flying off the board in that draft.

I would like Miller but I would be hesitant with that contract, that's the kind that can cripple a franchise. Not to mention he was suspended a few years ago for smoking that Mary Jane and trying to tamper with a drug test. Not sure if he is still in the program or not.

Yeah you don't see it because he doesn't get the ball in those situations but he is one of the toughest guys in the NFL to bring down when he has the ball.

He was a killer as a return man and because he kept getting hurt we had to take him off those duties.
