I think we need slow down a little bit in our praise for these two moves. They seem like upgrades, but Carolina was terrible vs the run last year. Including on 1st down with those 2 big bodies on the line often together.

It’s a team game. Their LB play was terrible.

You are probably the same kind of guy that didn't blame Garrett for the cowboys dysfunction last year and put it all on Dak.. I want to inform you that Rivera was on his way out last year and lost the team. They had a horribly disjointed rotational system on the dline as well. But, go ahead and act like this isn't a huge upgrade for our boys, have at it sailor..
no, I did blame garrett and held him responsible....and regardless, they were a bad team, bad defense and these two were part of that. has their time come and gone? are we hoping of the McCoy and Poe of the past? how close are they to that? .I am not buying what jerry is selling. I have done that for 25 years and its been bad after bad. we have to wait and see, but I am not excited just because we signed a name everyone knows or maybe a has been. I am not being negative...just realistic and not jumping on the bandwagon yet. I will wait to see the results on the field...

What if ruggs is bpa? I’d pull the trigger. That would we a potent offense and then the rest of the draft would be all defense
Riggs would be a great pick up for us. A great infusion of speed to the offense and special teams.

love the signing...love the Bell signing. But on both counts, neither changes our draft strategy which will remain, BPA...and its all but a lock that we draft a DT/edge guy within the first 3 rounds. Poe is a bridge player like McCoy and that's ok. We will squeeze what production we can out of each. Bell is a swiss army knife...can never have too many of those guys. Fassel and MM will love this guy. Still doesn't stop us from drafting a high value TE. I THINK it does spell the end of Dalton Schultz...all but a lock.

I agree. Many fans think, “oh this is a 2-3 year process to make a Superbowl run”. Teams that make a few smart moves in Free Agency and draft well can make dramatic improvement in 1 year. The jury is still out on how much of an improvement McCoy and Poe will be, but if they pan out it is a great start to an improved team!

Lets not forget we upgraded 100X at Head Coach. Biggest and most improvement this off season.

Look, no matter whom our coach is, they have to deal with Jerry, and you and I both know what a slippery slope that is to navigate, but having said that, both McCoy and Poe, are too talented players that fit the type of scheme that Big Mike wants to employ. These guys will help our linebackers for certain in the since that there is less room to navigate for opposing running backs. The scheme we were running was disjointed due to kris richard and marinelli not being on the same page, plus rod's scheme is outdated and relies on everything being perfect which is wasn't.

I'm not saying you need to jump on the bandwagon, but getting a coach with success in Big Mike and some bigger more talented DT's is a very positive move for this team and our defense. I get they aren't in their prime, but if they were we wouldn't of gotten them on the cheap. Look at Quinn last year, he was much better with us than Miami, you have to be willing to roll the dice on talent when they come at a decent bargain and fit the diagram of the defense you want to run.

The best special team coach in the league is now ours, Jim Bones Fassell, and he loves gadget players. Bell, is an accurate passer and special teams ace whom can hold snaps on field goals. Fassell will use him for the fake plays he loves to run and also get tons out of him on special teams. This, is what makes him great. Thanks for asking.
