I agree. This isn’t about Jimmy, this is about Ware. Ware is getting what he deserves. He deserves far more respect than he's getting in this thread. Yes, Jimmy Johnson deserves to be in, but this should be about Ware and what a great player he was. He earned his spot in the Hall and in the Ring. Congrats to a Cowboys great.
Niland deserves the honor but Jerry Jones likely does not know or care about his legacy with the franchise. Jones would likely rank Niland's chances as low as Jimmy Johnson's.Niland next.
That’s the unfortunate part.. any ring of honor announcement that doesn’t include Jimmy at this point just takes away from it. Great for Ware but until Jimmy gets in, Jerry’s only hurting that specific player. Now imagine he announced Jimmy and then DWare, fans would be overjoyed.I agree. Well Jerry did say that Jimmy is a young 80. lolI wonder how Jerry Jones' peers view his treatment of the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor..?
Robert Kraft: Evening Jerral. I caught the news. You are putting DeMarcus Ware into the Ring, huh? Great choice. Excellent player.
Jerry Jones: Thanks Bob. Ware is a good man. I know how to pick 'em, don't I?
Kraft: So what are your plans for Jimmy Johnson?
Jones: He is going in next, Bob. You'll see. ~wink wink~
Kraft: Yeah? When?
Jones: Ole Jimmy will get in before you know it. ~wink wink~
Kraft: Next year then?
Jones: Yep. 'Next year'. ~wink wink~
Kraft: Jerral? Are you okay? Your right eye keeps twitching like crazy.
Jones: Oh, shut up Bob!
He will say something similar again if both men are blessed to reach 90.Well Jerry did say that Jimmy is a young 80. lol

I hope you’re joking. Real good player for the Cowboys during the 60s and early 70s but he’s not about to get in the ROH.Niland next.
Some fans don’t give him a lot of respect because we didn’t win anything with him. He really didn’t show up big in the playoffs for us. The Cowboys only won one playoff game with him. He didn’t have a lot of impactful sacks. Anytime a player is added to the ROH Jimmy’s name will always come up.He deserves far more respect than he's getting in this thread. Jimmy would have been in Denver's Ring of Fame years ago. The only organization I can think of that is similar to what Jerry is doing was in Buffalo. Ralph Wilson refused to put Lou Sabin in the Wall of Fame. He claimed he quit on him twice despite the fact that Sabin gave Buffalo it's only championships when he won back to back AFL titles in the 60's. He was eventually put in after Wilson's death. Unfortunately Sabin had already died by then.Interesting. Hypothetically, this prior announcement may have influenced Jerry Jones' timing for inducting DeMarcus Ware into the Ring:
Broncos honoring Super Bowl XXXIII team this fall, forgoing Ring of Fame inductions again
By Peter Gabriel | The Denver Post
June 13, 2023
The Broncos reorganized their Ring of Fame selection committee and decided for a second straight year against inducting any new honorees.
Instead, the franchise will use its homecoming weekend (Week 2) this fall to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Super Bowl XXXIII championship team and also NFL Hall of Fame inductee DeMarucs Ware.
“One of our key priorities is to deepen relationships with alumni and better connect with not only Ring of Famers but all former players, coaches and administrators,” Broncos owner and CEO Greg Penner said in a statement. “This year, we’re thrilled to celebrate the 25th anniversary of our Super Bowl XXXIII team as well as newest Pro Football Hall of Famer DeMarcus Ware to highlight Alumni Weekend.

Pure speculation but a mindset like Jones' could have contemplated both taking some of the honors spotlight for Ware from the Broncos (Dallas hosts the Jets on Week 2 also, which would conflict with Ware's prior commitment for attending in Denver) and preemptively beat a potential 2024 Ware induction into the other franchise's Ring of Fame. As Jones has bragged over the years, he told Bill Parcells Ware should be drafted over Shawne Merriman and the rest is history. Did the thought occur to Jones that another franchise was giving career accolades to his prize draft pick before him? The one person responsible for giving Ware his NFL opportunity accumulating a future Hall of Fame legacy? Would he allow his part to be overshadowed by the franchise that acquired the player he had first?
My guess would be no.

- Dan Reeves became the first head coach to be elected to the Denver Broncos when he was chosen along with Gene Mingo and Rich Upchurch in 2014. Reeves coached the Broncos from 1981-92 and compiled a 110-73-1 (.600) record in his 12 seasons while leading the team to a franchise best five divisiontitles (1984, '86-87, '89, '91) and three Super Bowl appearances (1986-87, '89).
- Red Miller was elected to the Broncos Ring of Fame in 2017, joining Dan Reeves as the only two coaches in team history to receive the prestigious honor. Hired as the eighth head coach in Broncos history on Feb 1, 1977, Miller compiled a 40-22 (.645) regular-season record and 2-3 (.400) playoff mark from 1977-80.
- The Bronco's all-time leader in regular season wins (138) and postseason victories (8), Shanahan was Denver's head coach from 1995-2008 after previously serving as an assistant coach with the team in two separate stints (1984-87, '89-91). He lead the Broncos to back-to-back Super Bowl wins (XXXII & XXXIII), three conference championship games, seven postseason appearances and nine winning seasons during his 14 seasons as head coach.
Wonder what would have been the chances Jimmy Johnson would have been inducted into their Ring of Fame before today? Maybe better than Red Miller's? lol.
Emotions can sometimes be involved in these types of decision-making. Jimmy Johnson had reported multiple authoritative conflicts with the University of Miami's administration while he coached the Hurricanes. It's Ring of Honor selection committee held out until his year to induct Johnson. Guess everyone is not as stubborn as Jerry Jones when it comes to handing out career accolades, lol.Jimmy would have been in Denver's Ring of Fame years ago. So many people in this world just refuse to believe that it takes this kind of personality to build dynasties. Jimmy did it twice. He built the Hurricanes dynasty that won 3 NCAA Championships (1 with Jimmy as coach, and two with Erickson using Jimmy's players). He then built the Cowboys dynasty that became the first team to win 3 Super Bowls in 4 years (back to back with Jimmy, and Switzer using Jimmy's players). And yet in both places petty people tried to deny the man his rightful accolades because they were butt-hurt about Jimmy's demeanor when it came to running legendary football teams.Emotions can sometimes be involved in these types of decision-making. They can donate a Broncos jersey like the one in his hall of fame display to hang next to his nameMaybe Denver should pitch in for the cost.
Not joking.I hope you’re joking. Real good player for the Cowboys during the 60s and early 70s but he’s not about to get in the ROH.
He retired in 1975 and not even the Landry regime added him to the ROH. Of all the names that get mentioned for the ROH I’m not sure I can remember anyone mentioning his name. I can assure you he’ll never be added.
