There’s a difference between a rookie making an impact and necessitating one to. If your mindset is “Mazi needs to step in day 1 and fix our run D,” then you’re in trouble. But if it’s “We’re fine without him, but whatever he gives us this year is a plus,” then that’s the situation that gets teams far. The SB teams you mentioned got bonus play from their rookies, it wasn’t something they went into the draft yearning for that year. Never draft for 2023, draft for 2024-2027.I think you could go back through almost every Super Bowl team in the modern era and find a rookie that made a significant impact.
