Cowboys being linked to WR Cooper Kupp

I'm not against this. The fact that the Jones' would ACTUALLY do this is another thing. I seriously doubt they would. But, who knows.....
Front office history shows we're more likely to trade for a starting receiver (Amari Cooper, Brandin Cooks, Mingo) than pay big in free agency for one.

I will be shocked if it happens. And I don’t think Cooper Kupp is what this team needs at WR. I respect the guy a lot but a declining skills receiver without speed is not what this team needs IMO.
Disagree.

His skills are not declining. He has been injured.

If healthy, he would be a HUGE upgrade!

Lamb and Kupp would be phenomenal!

Kupp and Stafford almost beat Philly in the divisional by themselves. Had it not been snowing Rams win that game.
The Eagles played that playoff game in the snow as well. Perhaps they would have performed better if not for the weather conditions. Why is it assumed the snow only affected the Rams? Rams and Eagles played in great weather under a roof in Los Angeles earlier in the season. Eagles beat the hell out of them. “Had it not been snowing Rams” lose that game by two or three scores.

Lol,
And that’s how a clickbait Facebook article becomes a rumor folks!
Kupp is 32, injury prone, overpaid and rapidly declining. He’s the epitome of what “management” has been preaching should be avoided for years!

The Dallas Cowboys drafted Cooper's grandfather, Jake Cupp in 1964.

He was taken in the 8th round, Bob Hayes was taken in the 7th and Roger Staubach was taken in the 10th. Mel Renfro was taken in the 2nd round so this draft also produced three HOFers.

After playing a couple seasons in Dallas, Jake would go on to be the Saints first Pro Bowl offensive linemen. He started there for 8 seasons.

Cooper's father Craig was a 5th round pick in 1990 for the Giants, He was a backup QB for one season and passed through a Cowboys training camp before being cut.

After 2022, we traded for a 29-year-old receiver coming off an injury-hampered season and declining (57 catches, 699 yards, 3 TDs). Cooks played in 13 games the year before we traded for him. Kupp played in 12 last year and had 67-710-6. Not saying we should trade for him, but Kupp just finished his eighth season; Cooks had just finished his ninth.

I will say that Cooks' two seasons before his injury-marred year were better than Kupp's, and Kupp has missed more games the past three seasons. I just don't think it is far-fetched for this front office to consider it.

So fans do not seem to want him. But once he goes to another team. Jerry will be considered stupid for not going after him.

You know how this works.
My thing is I'm willing to try anything to improve this team. We've seen that signing low-cost FAs, our own guys and using the draft doesn't work. I'd be fine trading all of our picks for players because it would at least show we're willing to do something different.

Sadly, trading a later-round pick for Kupp is more like moves we've shown we're willing to make (see Brandin Cooks) instead of something different that would show a willingness to change.

And they’d be better off just resigning Cooks. Same production without the 12m cap hit for someone who hasn’t eclipsed 1k yards in over 3 seasons now!

But hey, when he fails and he inevitably will… we’ll have the pleasure of reading about how stupid Jerry is in 100 threads from the same people who advocated for the trade!

Adding a Cooper Kupp is not a bad thing and signing Osa isn't a bad thing.

Makes sense, he is at that point in his career where reliability will be an issue. That is right in the Cowboys wheelhouse :muttley:
