During our 90's dynasty we couldnt move in a bookshop for Cowboys literature - or so it seemed - so what i sthe best book you have read about us or would reccomend as essential reading.

Ive just finished Jerry Jones - Playing to win, and have started on Boys will be Boys by Jeff Pearlan.

Any decent bios out there? Ive got Bates, Emmitts and of course Landrys autobiography as well as a few other titles.

Rayfield Wright is a great story of accomplishment. My recommendation - "Wright Up Front."

I recently bought and read "Boys Will be Boys" by Jeff Pearlman ..

I liked that the book contained a more indepth detailing of events during the end of the Landry era and the Super Bowl years of the mid-1990's. I was not too impressed with the structure or the quality of the writing but the details made the book worthwhile to me.

Charles Haley wrote a book called All the Rage: the life of an NFL renegade. I bought it and read about 1/2 of it several years ago. The writing was not very good, but from what I remember it was fairly interesting. But I was like 15 when I read it and probably didn't understand what I was reading.

I´ve just read Playing to win, Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys.

Great read, specially if you like Jerry, its the story of the cowboys since 1989 and how Jerry changed pro sports.

Once a Cowboy - Walt Garrison.

You will find some interesting stuff in there but you will laugh your backside off at some of the stories.

Loved it and laughed out loud many times.

For anyone with a thirst for early history, I have a very nice leather bound book titled "Dallas Cowboys The first 25 years", by Carlton Stowers. It is full of great obscure stories from day one up to 1984. It has team pictures and rosters of players, coaches and even equipment managers for every year. It is without a doubt full of some of the best pictures and stories that you could find in anyone place for early history. The team pictures are great, they even show team pictures that they allowed the players to act like fools or ham it up which are just awesome. Pictorials of commercials, movies, or promotions that Roger and Tom Landry and many others were involved in over those years. Cartoons and editorials .A full page picture of Tom Landry and Tex Shramm holding up the shovel with a painted star on it the day that ground was broke to build Valley Ranch. There is a ton of unbelievable artwork and pictures that fold out. It is my favorite book of all time and a must have if you want your kids or yourself to learn how we got to where we are now. I can't impress on you enough to find this book if you've never seen it and enjoy it for many years. In fact I think I will go get it now for the millionth time and enjoy it again. If I were more adept at transferring pictures to the forum I would take some pics of the pics and post 'em.

As others have mentioned, Boys Will Be Boys is a trip. Just finished reading it. Lots of interesting/shocking stories covered in depth. I really liked how the book came full circle and, while it spent lots of time slamming the likes of Irvin and Newton, it made sure to point out that both men have (finally) grown up. Overall, I didn't think Pearlman took many unnecessary shots at the 'Boys... a far cry from what it could've been had Skip Bayless penned it.

I loved The Emmitt Zone, but I read that when I was like 12...

I've read The Boys and Hell-Bent, both by Skip Bayless, and despite who they're written by I thought that they were pretty interesting reads. I liked them both enough that I'd read them again. In fact I've read The Boys more than once anyway.
