• On Michael Sam: Dallas never looked at him as an option because he doesnt fit what they want to do.

He's not a 3-4 OLB they tried that at the SR bowl beccause teams wanted to see him there and he didnt look good at all. He's a DE.

• Email: Seattle used more starters on special teams, should Cowboys do that?
Church plays ST but he's more of the safety back of the play player. Not the main guy that runs and get in the collisions. Dallas has no issues on ST anyways

• Email: Draft any guys from Baylor?
Eatman: Ahmad Dixon could be a middle round pick, and Tevin Reese but he's really short. And Cyril Richardson he needs to answer alot of questions on his SR bowl failures.

• People talk about Cowboys drafts and where they have players on their board, They had Frederick right on the money. Mayock came out with that report about teams he spoke with had him in the 3rd round. What does that say about their draft boards. Dallas had him at 23 and drafted him at 31. Thats very good value.

• If this team is looking to do things that Seattle does, fix the passrush. Thomas is what he was drafted to be. Chancellor wasnt viewed as somebody who would be this good. And he was ok but nowhere near this good when he came out. Hardwork in the offseason made him to what he is today. So thinking Dallas needs to go out and draft another S high might not be the answer. Maybe let your safties play and get better with work. Passrush is more important because if you dont have a passrush it doesnt matter who you have back there.

• Eatman: If i was a coach i would tell Wilcox this offseason, its your job, do the work and go and get it.

• Jeff Heath is still at VR everyday.

• Guy with Eatman says he wouldnt draft a S this yr because its too soon. Safeties in the draft not much better then Wilcox.

• Draft a OLB?
Hard question, because of Carter struggles. You feel comfortable with Lee but thats the only spot thats locked up but there is the health issue. The way Hollomon played at the end of the yr you think Hollomon should be the starter at OLB. This is the yr Dallas finds out where they go with OLB. should have a open comp with Durant, Wilber, Hollomon.

• Passrush would help everybody. Fix the DL and you will see better play from LB to secondary.

• Broaddus not sold on Donald being a 16,17 pick.

• Looking at Carter, expectations were big. And with fan expectations, if you arent good, you are bad. He had a couple really bad games, but he had 96 tackles 2 sacks. And a few dropped INTs. He wasnt as good as people wanted him to be but wasnt nowhere near as bad as fans think. with fans its black and white. You are all pro or failure.

• Marinelli at DC?
He develops players into probowlers. He did this with Melton, and Hatcher this yr.

• Dez Back problems a issue?
Yes, he's young but this seems like his back is a chronic problem. Maybe brings his price down a little.

I had the same reaction. If you could get him in the 5th round and he was a good situational pass rusher at DE, why wouldn't you draft him?

Be a steal in the 5th. I actually think he would be better off going a team that has a coach that runs a tight ship and would not put up with BS. Clearly that is not Dallas.

And this is why we don't improve. We don't take chances in the draft if a player doesn't fit the scheme.

Last year I wanted the Honey Badger. This year we have a chance at this guy. Argh.

Bc some organizations don't want the media circus that would come along with Sam. Some players won't like it either. Idc about having a openly gay player in the league, just hopefully not in Dallas. We don't need that media firestorm. It wouldn't be good for Sam or the team. If he came to Dallas the media circus would be amplified x10.

I think you are starting to see how everybody wants to be PC in the open. But when theres no media around people talk. As Sam's own teammate is calling out all his other teammates who are posting things on twitter about they support him this and that, all the time they were talking about him behind his back. You have people like Incognito on every team in the nfl, Sam is going to have a rough time nomatter how much assurance the nfl is trying to say its time to open up.

Sam has his degree so he obviously did the whole college thing to get that instead of just getting a ticket to the nfl. I think he will be getting in job in his degree field sooner rather then later.

I read somewhere that Sam can make up to 2 mil a yr just being a part of gay rights organizations and things like that, spokesman

If he hadEn't come out would we be having thi discussion? No. Being gay doesn't make someone a better player or person. If someone comes out and says its against their beliefs to fraternize with a homosexual, will people be as supportive?

From my interpretation on what they were saying about Sam, they said you don't worry about PR when drafting and that the announcement didn't help him but may drop him.

The OLB stuff had nothing to do with the Cowboys, they were just pointing out that he won't be attractive to 3-4 teams because he looked bad at that spot, so he is a 4-3 DE exclusively.

They then said that he is a bit of a project (they didn't explain why that is) and classified him as a 3rd down pass rush specialist, not every down. They didn't bother qualifying why they think that about him, but all they said is you don't take a 3rd down only guy early.

They didn't say anything about not drafting the guy or being concerned about the media, they basically have him classified where he has been all along - mid round.

I didn't hear them say a thing about the cowboys not looking at him or not fitting what they do, I don't know where you got that...

It's also worth noting they talked about him for maybe 2 or 3 mins tops. It wasn't an in depth discussion.

Maybe. It is the scheme that Dungy used in Indy too and Freeney and Mathis who are the same height or less.

That is part of the issue. It is not that they do not "fit the scheme". They do not fit the physical prototypes that the Cowboys have established. That is how you end up with physical specimens that simply cannot play. We have done this kind of idiocy for years when it comes to scouting college talent.

If they're looking to copy Seattle, maybe they should start at the top of the organization and work their way down.

Just a wacky idea.
