Going into the 2022 season, Cowboys fans were hopeful we could do four things we had not done since the 93-95 seasons-
  1. Make the playoffs in back to back seasons for the first time since 06-07.
  2. Win 12 or more games in back to back seasons for the first time since 93-95.
  3. Win the NFC East in back to back seasons for the first time since 94-95.
  4. Win a road playoff game for the first time in 30 seasons.
We made 3 of those 4 benchmarks- back to back playoff and 12 win seasons-check and check. We did win a road playoff game- check. That was not only encouraging, it showed that this team was capable of building some organizational momentum. And despite the fact we were not able to win a divisional playoff game for the 5th straight time, there is certainly cause for optimism these days.

Now, as we head into the 2023 season, the Cowboys are poised to possibly make some more positive history. Here are the questions for history going into the upcoming season:
  1. Will the Cowboys make the playoffs for the 3rd straight season for the first time since 94-96? (By the way, the Cowboys record for consecutive playoff seasons is a whopping nine seasons- 1975-83. That may never be beat)
  2. Will the Cowboys win a playoff game in back to back seasons for the first time since 1995-96? (The Cowboys record in consecutive playoff win seasons is 6 straight seasons- 1991-96)
  3. Will the Cowboys finally win a divisional playoff game for the first time since 1995?
  4. Will the Cowboys appear in a SB for the first time in 28 years?
IMO, if we can hit the first 3 of those 4 benchmarks, we will have had a great season. Hitting all 4 would truly be historic.

All reasons McCarthy returns even w/o an NFCCG appearance and Dak likely gets his extension with either the top 5 or 3 $$$$$.

We very well make history and continue record lows.

#1 . Continue NFL record streak of consecutive Divisional Round in playoffs without a Championship Game appearance .

#2. Continue team futility record with most consecutive 12 win teams without a Championship Game appearance . ( Cowboys had never before won consecutive 12 win seasons without a Super Bowl)

#3. Consecutive playoff appearances without a conference championship game .

The Cowboys have made TWELVE straight playoff appearances without a trip to a conference championship game. Dallas' early exit streak has gone on for such a long time that it's now the longest drought of its kind in playoff history.

They can make history, but so can many teams. The real question is will they? They will demonstrate that answer in a couple months.

Thank God that we were fortunate enough to play the 8-9 Bucs that had no business being in the playoffs or we would have just hit 2 out of the 4 “Historical” benchmarks

Those were THE four things all Cowboys fans were hoping for in 2022?

Aaannndddd, how do you know this?

That's weird...because I THOUGHT I was hoping for several other things that didn't happen..... but maybe I really wasn't hoping for them after all....since apparently I was only hoping for those 4 things.

Also...what 4 things am I hoping for next year? I want to make sure I know what I'm supposed to hope for.

If we make it to the Super Bowl can we finally all admit that Mike McCarthy is a better coach than Tom Landry?

Wow all the negativity started right away.
But to each their own.

I will look forward to what can be a great season, and enjoy it as each game comes along.

Then if in the playoffs, which we should be, go from there. Too much negative thoughts in my head does no good. Not in my nature.

Bullet, DAL can and should make it to the Championship game. Anything short, MM and Dak won't be here in 2024.

History? Isn't that the reason for all of this malaise played forward about this team this season? 27 years of futility; here comes another.

One thing we've learned is that it's a new season every season and that swings both ways with the disappointment and surprises every season.

This is a good team, might be a great team, we just do not know yet with some players returning from injury and changes on the coaching staff.

One thing I do believe is this team is going to need some uncommon luck in the injury department to really realize its potential because I do not think this is a deep team, particularly on the offense.

But here's the beauty of it, we do not have to do anything but let it unfold before our eyes. We don't have to make predictions or even have expectations as everything will be revealed a layer at a time beginning in September.

Those that do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it is the saying but what about those that drag history forward to lay it upon the present?

This 27 years of misery is not only incorrect because there have been some damned good seasons in there but it is self-defeating to fans to let that hang over until that becomes fact. Enjoy and embrace the unknown.

Dak's contract isn't going anywhere, but Big Mike? I think he's gone if the team fails again in the playoffs.

I wouldn't bet on that . I’m not sure you'd fire a HC who took you to 3 consecutive playoffs . How could you attract another HC? Nobody does that.

I’m not sure why some fans expect us to go further in playoffs ?

We weren’t a better team than SF last two seasons . We shall see if we are one of the two best teams this year.

Interesting , circumstantial records.

I guess you felt the same way when we had 20 consecutive winning seasons , 12 championship appearances in 17 seasons .

Cumulatively they didn’t mean anything to you.

How about 5 Super Bowls in a decade or first winning 3 in 4 seasons . All circumstantial records?
