One example in NFL history. Not quite what I’d call the standard . But if that is what you want to hang your hat on. Lol

And you didn’t answer any of the other questions like why do you think we should be beating better teams in the playoffs?
Better teams get beat more than you might think, many times due to coaching. Hell, when Gruden won that Super Bowl, he beat an Eagles team in the NFCCG that was the favorite that year. You can make the argument that Philly was the better team with the most complete roster last year. Go back to the last SB and switch Andy Reid for Big Mike with the score 24-14 at halftime. Does Big Mike make the adjustments and win that game? I don't think he does.

That’s quite a leap expecting us to beat better teams .

And you think our type of owner is going to attract better coaching do you? Especially this one with three consecutive playoff appearances.

I’d like our chances better if we’d switch QB’s or defenses last year.

Wow, the constant complaining about the negativity started right away too…..

when will some people understand and accept that positivity, negativity, and neutrality MUST exist for a forum to be a worthwhile place to post in?

If everybody was forced to agree on something we would have merely stayed in Twitter before Musk liberated it by allowing free expression without an authoritarian controlling it.
Wow the complaining about fans telling the truth about the dislikers of their own team still going on.

I'm not going to flame you, but I will say that this team has failed in back-to-back 12-win seasons. Let's say they go 12-5 again and fail in the playoffs. Three in a row, with a team that should be good enough to get to the Super Bowl? Something has to give, and it's not going to be the guy with the big contract. If Philly gets to the SB again, there will be some soul searching in Big D. Maybe?
What if Philly gets to the Super Bowl and fails again as you say?

The NFC East had 3 playoff teams last year and went to the Super Bowl. It now has 2 of the 3 favorites to win NFC this year.
The giants and commandos were bad football teams, when we played the giants they had ZERO starters in their secondary. 2021 the division was the biggest dumpster fire I've ever seen.
So I'll stick with circumstances.
This year the giants will be improved.
Eagles will be stout.
Wash needs a QB.

I get that. It’s all about recent trends and history. Back in our glory eras it was always positive and upbeat . But it’s different when your current history is more dormant .

I’ve been a Baylor fan all of my life too and we went 50 years without winning a conference championship. While we continued to support and root our team on each season we knew the odds were against us finally breaking thru . It’s a different mentality. It’s not necessarily negative but more realistic expectations.

It’s why when we finally broke thru they called it “ Miracle on the Brazos”. Maybe 27 years of frustration isn’t long enough for
. But as Diehard fans we still get up for each season hoping this might be the one but we can certainly understand why the mentality for lack of success can have.
Do you remember when they would complain about Landry not being able to win the big one? I remember hearing that a lot between 1968 to 1971.

It took Andy Reid 20 years to win his 1st Super Bowl.

If we make it to the Super Bowl can we finally all admit that Mike McCarthy is a better coach than Tom Landry?

The Man in the Hat < The Man in the Fat
I don’t care how many rings McCarthy gets. He will never equal the class of Landry just my opinion.

I’m not sure why some fans expect us to go further in playoffs ?

We weren’t a better team than SF last two seasons . We shall see if we are one of the two best teams this year.
And that’s the bottom line, we just weren’t a better team overall. And when the running back went down. We weren’t even half as good but it’s all Prescott’s fault LMAO.

Right . Prescott isn’t enough to overcome all of our shortcomings on his own. And then some blame him for trying. Ridiculous!!

Of course . Fortunately he finally did but I don’t imagine he survives 29 years if he didn’t.

Landry to me represents everything that was great in Cowboys history with an amazing consistency of winning but we must also realize we lost a bunch of championships too.

We had an opportunity to go to 10 or more Super Bowls with him. A bunch of heartbreaks.

Thank goodness he didn't get fired after the 1st 10 years. After some of the losses like the 38 to 0 home loss to the Cards on national tv.

People were pretty upset with the loss to the Bears with the alternating qbs.

I don’t know what person is. Good enough to overcome anything by themselves. On a team level.

I’m agreeing now . No doubt . But not necessarily historically.

And if you want to use QB ‘s as a measurement then it’s not even close at this time but just a couple years ago it was with Brady , Brees and Rodgers in NFC. At that time all AFC had was Mahomes before Burrows and Allen rose to the top.

But it looks to be tilted now for a few years but interestingly the NFC still has won 2 of last 3 Super Bowls.
That’s a fair point.

Respectfully, What you need to understand is that critiquing one’s own team doesn’t mean disliking it

what is so hard to grasp about this basic concept?

Perhaps it’s fashionable to elevate and virtue signal that one is a “better fan” of the next guy to constantly put down others that have constructive criticism…….but Like you've said, “to each their own”

and don’t forget that I started this post by saying “ respectfully“………

If they do, that's two years in a row they got there. Seeing as how very few teams can make that claim, he stays. MM hasn't done that here. Lurie did fire Reid after having very good success.
