Cuts or trade candidates and their cap savings

Church------------4.25m
DMcFaddden----2m
Wilcox-------------1.6m
Leary--------------2.5m
RoMclain---------2.6m
TMcClain---------1m
Gachkar----------1.3m
Escobar-----------1m if healthy
CJones------------1m

Obviously these players would have to be replaced but most could be covered by rookies or vet on minimum deals

Keep Wilcox get rid of Church, trade Leary and McFadden. That would save 8.75 million

Im for extending contracts. Im particularly interestes in extending both Fredericks even Martin.

When your rookie begins his career with back to back Pro Bowls and a 1st team All Pri then you may not want to wait until the final year to negotiate.

First off, thanks Joe. Haven't seen you in awhile.

I like keeping tabs on the cap when possible.
Of the above list, I'm all for generating more cap space.

Cut Wilcox if salary not guaranteed?
Church is one of our captains. If he sticks around, rework that cap hit. Please keep him down in the box and out of harms way :)
RoMclain needs to hit the bricks, very unreliable. When he's on the field, he runs hot and cold. Don't know if he tires quickly due to conditioning, thinking to much or just takes plays off like Carter used to do (see a lot of slow jogging out there).
Keep the rest because they're needed pieces with lower salaries. Yes Leary too. At 2.5M, he's an instant starter if one of the big uglies drop (fingers crossed).

What we can save, definitely lock up some of our young OLmen. Also, what's the status on Lawrence. Isn't he on a 4 year rookie deal with this as year 3 of the deal?

This is why people post about being a GM and are not an actual GM....j/k...but Church and Wilcox are 1 in the same as a player playing in the box. Jones as a true FS allows both of these to be true SS's. Church will be a FA, and counts as $4 million against the cap. Cut him now and save that $4 million.

Ro makes this D goes when he is playing. I think you are misjudging him and his on the field duties and play. One week he has certain things to do in the d, the next week it may be Lee having rhose same duties. so it seems he may disappear but he doesn't. He was out of shape for reasons, this year there will be no reason.
Lock in the OL, yes, agree. They picked up the 5th year option on Frederick, so they can have a year to work that out. Then others will come along. Give them all 10 year deals like Tyron, all will be great. Not the same money as Tyron of course, but similar in the contract for the positions.

Yes, DLaw in 3rd year of 4 year deal.

So Jerry has money to burn and a hole in his pocket....quick Stephen, hose him down, we don't need any bad contracts on aging vet players.

Disagree about Church, just need to adjust that 4 mil hit. Wilcox (the Ole part in bullfighting) has to go.

Maybe...but Ro does not make this D go. That is Lee when he is on the field. Ro has a dominate play every now and then but nothing compared to Lee. You see Lee all over the place. Ro is supposed to be more physical and just as smart as Lee (or a smart player anyway). I just don't see that wow factor from him on a regular bases. Probably why he is on a one year deal.

Anywho, thanks for the response about Dlaw. Might want to think about his future soon.

What in the blue hell for?

Dude's a liability.

Wilcox much better at SS then FS plus the difference between him and Church is not great especially with the money we save by getting rid of Church. Wilcox is making pennies compared to Church

Only way Ro goes is if JSmith is healthy and that is a long shot OR he fails another test....Church could probably traded, just like Leary and maybe McFadden....the beauty is that there is no pressure because we re-did Carr and stand 7m under the cap....

Extending TFred, Martin and Collins will be expensive but it will initially created cap room...TFred's hit next year is 8.8m.....Martin is year behind him and Collins is a strange case.....he can extended after 2 years but they can control him cheaply until 2019.....it depends on what they promised him when they signed him as an UDFA...
