After signing Suh, Dez, Murray, Parnell, Carter, McClain, Carter, Moore, Leary, Clutts, Beasely, Weems, Durant, Spencer and CLawrence there is still over 14m in cap space. That is with cuts to Carr(June 1st), Melton and Free. Romo, Witten and TSmith restuctured.

It probably depends on when Doug Free's contract voids.

If it voids and he becomes a free agent, the remaining prorated signing bonus money ($3.02M in 2015, $0.96K in 2016) will all come due on this year's cap ($3.98M). Free getting a new contract after the fact won't change what happens with the dead money from the old deal.

If Dallas can re-sign Free before the contract voids, and I don't know when the void is set to occur (it may be unavoidable), they can stop the $0.96K in 2016 from accelerating onto this year's cap.

Free, who is preparing to undergo bone spur surgery on his left ankle, may be open to re-signing because he isn't likely to cash in as a free agent with concerns over his surgery, IMO.

And I fully expect Bill Callahan to push Dan Snyder and Jay Gruden to go after Jermey Parnell if he becomes a free agent.

We need to get RT sorted out prior to free agency.

Thanks. Agree with the latter. Might go after them both and take the best deal.

I think the Cowboys showed their hand by keeping Hawkins and Hills on the roster all this time through many tough decisions on who to cut from the 53. Parnell, Hills and Hawkins are the ones who are being kept on board, IMO.

You might be right. I have zero idea what they are going to do at tackle. I don't think they know as some variables are outside their control. I do think they would like two of Free, Parnell and Weems on board preferably the first two. I don't think they'll be able to do so but we can hope.

This situation could play out like Spencer's did, where he tested the market, showed up in offices with crutches and failed to convince teams he'd be able to contribute in a big way for their team that coming year. Free with his injury may have priced himself into a friendly contract for us.

Forgot about Weems! Add him to my list above.

The wildcard with Free is Calahan. He'll know what he's worth and may be willing to out-bid us.

I think the Skins will go after Parnell and Free. If they/somone only get one then I think we're ok.

Interesting how that will drive up the price for Parnell and Free. We should try to get a RT early in the draft.

I wonder what we have in Hawkins, Hills and Weems.

They like Weems a lot. He's a Parnell clone for the most part. He just has no experience. You still need a backup if you lose Free and Parnell. I suspect you're right and we can retain Free. Free, Weems and Smith with a 4th developmental guy sounds ok with me.

I raised the issue of the interior having problems with pass coverage early on and got hammered. I was right. I hope Pollack works with these guys on this off season as this is a concern. I think it will get better but that's still a hope. That's my concern more so than having two starters and a swing tackle to start camp.

Moving Martin is NOT an option I would be open too.

I don't see them doing that unless it's a last resort. Don't see it happening either. Most here know nothing of Hills but he's been around for a reason I'm certain. Not predictive of his even being on the team but he's at least a name to throw in the hat. It'll work out because it must.

Not if they include it in a multi-year contract. I'm not certain but I think they can fold that into a new contract and spread that hit out. But I'm not very good at cap stuff.

No, if they keep him, in addition to his new contract, 3M will hit the cap in 2015 and 960K in 2016.

A chart showing all 32 teams, how many players they have under contract, how much cap room they are carrying over into 2015, their CURRENT cap commitments for 2015 and what their current cap room would be IF the cap is set at $140 million (in order of projected cap room) --

Obviously, these numbers could change drastically depending on which players restructure, get cut, get tendered, re-sign, etc.

Surprised how much cap room teams like the Seahawks ($23m), Packers ($24m), Colts ($30m), and Broncos ($22m) have -- all playoff teams.

One has to remember just how young our interior is. Fred is the Greybeard with 2 full years. So I frankly think more experience will take care of most of those problems

Dallas can easily have 40-50m in cap space. It's not the same cap discussions anymore. The cap is going to keep rising with the TV deals that are already signed, sealed and delivered.

Teams have gotten smarter and are relying on draft picks more and have squeezed out a lot of mid level vets. The new rookie scale was a big win for the owners who couldn't help themselves from throwing guaranteed millions at unproven rookies.
