i dont see any pass rush traits but i will give Mcclay the benefit of the doubt.Again, they have no intention of him being a 2 down player. He has pass rush traits. Let him cook.
The hole was gonna be there after the draft too even if you take Torrence.Made the right pick. But we know quite clearly now that cowboys realize they have a hole at guard. Those acting like we’re fine are kidding themselves.
Not their MO but who knows. They don’t believe in trading high compensation to move up and that’s what it would’ve took.Interesting that the debate was between Mazi and Avila. I wonder if they considered moving up in the 2nd round at all. They would have had their pick among the TEs, Avila and Bergeron.
How could you though? He wasn’t asked to rush the passer in Michigan so I don’t think any of his pass rushing would show up on tape. Just like how no one saw Micah as a pass rusher.i dont see any pass rush traits but i will give Mcclay the benefit of the doubt.
You think that guy was getting 60-70 snaps next season? It’s the wrong choice.its between a guy who will play 20 snaps vs a guy who will play 60-70 snaps.
thats the typical snap count for an olineman. You think that guy was getting 60-70 snaps next season?
All opinions are valid....however McClay's opinion is just that little bit MORE valid. Its the wrong choice.its between a guy who will play 20 snaps vs a guy who will play 60-70 snaps.
If they dont make a serious run at Dalton Risner I will be very concerned. Unless their plan is moving Tyler inside and Tyron back to LTMade the right pick. But we know quite clearly now that cowboys realize they have a hole at guard. Those acting like we’re fine are kidding themselves.
They mentioned that they had both players in for a 30 visit, and mentioned Guard. Torrence was not a 30 visit, so they had to be talking about Avila.I watched the same video. They only mentioned the G position. Didn't hear Avila specifically. If Gehlken can be believed it was Syracuse T Matthew Bergeron who they wanted to move inside.
I wonder how they viewed Torrence. When Torrence was drafted, the ESPN guys (Reddick/Kiper) stated he was a RG only. Has heavy feet, very limited lateral movement, trouble getting to the 2nd level. Was a road grader best suited for a power running team. If true, I'm guessing the Cowboys didn't view him as a fit for their WCO.I like the Mazi pick, but I would have gone Torrence in 2nd round. Apparently McClay and staff didn’t think he was right fit or something.
I'm confused. Most of the mocks I saw had Smith ahead of Avila. This all but confirms we’re building our board for need and not talent.
Good point. How could you though? He wasn’t asked to rush the passer in Michigan so I don’t think any of his pass rushing would show up on tape. Just like how no one saw Micah as a pass rusher.
Oh I agree Smith is higher than Avila…I'm confused. Most of the mocks I saw had Smith ahead of Avila.

Example: Smith 32, Avila 51
I am not sure but i thought they were going to keep tyler at LT,Tyron at RT and move steele inside. But hard telling with these folksIf they dont make a serious run at Dalton Risner I will be very concerned. Unless their plan is moving Tyler inside and Tyron back to LT
