Cowboys considered two QBs in draft

I can’t be the only one that noticed Stephen Jones get pissed on the war room cam , when the Browns traded up for Sanders?
That's what they get for trading their 4th, if they really wanted him.

Shedeur said it best though. God doesn't make mistakes...so he's probably looking down through the hole in the roof smiling down at Jerry thinking, "I saved your arse here Jerry. You can thank me later "

Regardless of what you think of Sanders, by the 5th round, does it matter? It's low risk.

I just don't understand the Browns. Why did they draft two QBs?
Considering the last 30 years or so they should probably drop every other pick on one!

Cam Ward signed a $49m contract, $30m guaranteed. Shedeur may get around $4m, bag of chips guaranteed.

Everyone loved Wards personality, Everyone raved about Milroe’s personality. Interviews matter…

Perhaps teams remember Mayfield and his cocky behavior and saw choosing him in the first round was regrettable. They may not have wanted to make the same mistake the Browns did.

It’s probably a good a idea to watch what the Cleveland Browns do and do the opposite.
Good point.

Baker was not cocky in the interviews though. Baker did not fail the tests that coaches threw at him.
Baker was 5x the qb in college that Shedeur was.
Did you see that a coach sent Shedeur a 20 page install package 1 week prior to their meeting, the coach purposely put in many mistakes, Shedeur caught zero of them.

What’s the double standard?
Got a link?

I’m excited to see Joe Milton at 6’5” 245 extend plays and actually scramble out of trouble . Shades of the young Dak . I’m glad they didn’t waste a pick on a QB this yr after getting Milton .

What else then

, cause he's way better than alot of the guys before him? Everybody is laughing at the comment but not explaining why YOU think he wasn't drafted earlier. Especially when alot of teams said they didn't like the way he interviewed so arrogantly!?
They have explained the problem. Worst interviews some teams ever had. Reported that he wouldn't listen to or admit to things he needs to correct. And as always teams are rightfully worried about the media circus he will bring. Hell ESPN almost completely ignored the overall 1st pick to fawn over Sanders and his drop. And before race is used as an excuse remember that the First Overall Pick was also Adrican American and no one had any problem with him. I hope the kid has a long career but he fell because of his issues no one else's.

Cleveland is desperate for a franchise QB and drafting two QBs increases the odds they could hit on one. The Cowboys drafted Aikman and Walsh in 89.
This is a bit different than Aikman and Walsh. Not different like night and day, different like apples and Apache helicopters. Why would you draft Gabriel first, then Sanders? It makes no sense.

Are you sure it wasn’t the other way? The almighty looking out for Shadeur and not placing him on a team run by the Jones family where he’ll probably never sniff the Super Bowl, :muttley:

I was not crazy about either but where they went there is some value. My concern is the cowboys are not a contender this year. If everything goes right and they have another good draft, potentially next year they can be. Although in all honesty they probably need two more good drafts due to their inactivity in free agency to be a really good team. It is scary to think what happens in two years with Dak. If he is not a top 12 qb, what the rest of the roster looks like does not matter.

If they had taken Ewers instead of Blue in the 5th round it would have been a huge mistake. Or if they traded up to take him instead of James?

I am not a Ewers fan. I would have taken Howard over Ewers. Heck, I would have taken Curtis Rourke over Ewers.

False, he is WAY better than some of those QBs taken before him. If people don't see he was played by the league it's crazy. All because of how cocky he is
Part of the QB evaluation is not just ability on the field...especially when you're talking about a young draft pick. Character matters...especially when your physical talent is marginal...at best.

People want to make it more than it is. you summed it it perfect.Talent may not outweigh the ensuing drama
